I own a CIELO. M planning to change my car to a hatchback due to Size. I use the car alternate days and travel 40 - 50 Kms. Please suggest, should I go for a petrol car- If yes, then which one OR should I go for diesel(Which I Prefer)- If yes, then which one? Requirements (Comfort, economical, fuel efficient, low on maintenance cost). Please advise. My Budget is 5-6 Lac

There are plenty of options these days. Since you travel around 50 kms on alternate days, it would be better to go for a diesel car. The options that come to mind are swift, Ritz, Fiat Punto (all of which have the same diesel engine from FIAT)with similar kind of mileage - chose the one that suits your taste and pocket.

Hi,
As you are prefering a hatchback, considering the budget of 6 lac, it would be worth going for a Hyundai i20. nIf prefering a diesel car then good choice would be that of a Tata Indica Vista.

As Subhash mentioned in his comment relay we have good fleet of choices
If I want to buy car I will buy Grande Punto is a great option for its build quality, stylish outlook, reliable engine and this car is one of the fastest selling hatchback in India

u go for petrol as u use the car for alternate days ur use is less ......diesel is preferred for the people who use more than 2500-3000km.......
for less use petrol is the best choice.......n in case of choice of brand go for swift or ritz only.......because after sale service n resale value matters alot according to me.....grande punto is good but as u own cielo u know the problem when no company is there for servicing or for spare parts......i also owned a swift petrol because of the reasons after i sold my daewoo cielo.....chevrolet n fiat don't have that good market or reliable market still ........so without any point of confussion go for maruti...
hyundia is also not good as my friend got the problem in the car ......there was a big problem regarding the spare parts issue .....he own an i10.....n now he also wants to buy a swift petrol

so maruti is the best.....now new 1.2 l engine is coming with swift ....more fiel efficient ......u can wait for that ....it will come in mid of 2010 or u can go for ritz!
