Your 1st question is............It is little bit general problem in Chevrolet UVA. but when you take the gear carefully then it will not so happen.
2nd question's answer is Its pick -up is good .....no doubt. You do one thing ........you start low gear driving....means....1st gear 0 to 15km, 2nd gear 15 to 30, 3rd gear is 30to 45km, 4th gear 45 to 60km and after that 5th gear.
You will drive like this you will get result soon.

For reverse gear generaly extra push is to be given so that the driver is fully aware if putting reverse gear.However there are many cars in market which have bit smoother operation of reerse gear also. As far as specific problem in your car is concerned, it needs to be inspected to confirm the exact cause of hard gear shifting. It can also be due to lever not engaging properly.

i am completely agree with Anand. I am a owaner of UVA LT Option Pack. the reverse gear is not so smooth like others rather too stiff, but it will more easy after sometime and adjustment of clutch. and as per as pick up is concern it is not like i10 or swift. it is a heavy car in respect to its engine capacity. But if u follow the instruction of anand it will helpfull.

Ans for 2nd question.
ALL GM petrol vehicles are programmed such that driver will shift to higher gear earlier. So pick-up is low.You just can't compare with SWIFT,I10. Pl. Also note that GM petrol engines are always weak when you compare with JAPNESE engines. You compare any petrol engine you will find the same. This does not mean U-va is bad. It's a good car but has no entertainment to driver.
