In Simple language, Turbo equipment is nothing but a FAN,
attached to the Exhaust Manifold of the Engine. If it is a Turbo Engine, then you can visualise a Circular Tyre type of Cast Iron MOLD fixed to the Exhaust Manifold and joined to the Silencer Pipe.
Its principle is nothing like a Fan which gets Revolved as the Exhaust Gas moves into the Silencer Exhaust and thereby this energy is used up in running a Shaft which is connected to another FAN called a Compressor, which compresses the Air Sucked from the Outside Air, It is usually connected to the Air Filter so that clean air is
compressed by this Fan Compressor and sends the compressed air into the Intake or Inlet Manifold for further combustion.
Hence the Power is increased rather than engine sucking Air from the aircleaner, which may be less as compared to FORCED Air sent by the Turbocharger.
I hope it is clear.

In the absence of a turbo boost indicator, as part of your instrument panel, you should drive it to see if you get a "turbo boost" kicking in say around 2,500 RPM to 3,000 RPM on a Sierra. It is extra power and highly enjoyable. The turbo Sierra definitely should let you feel this extra power. If not, get it checked by a mechanic!
