Hi,
You can get good conditioned Sierra starting from 1.5 lac onwards. and Safari from 2.5 lac onwards depending upon condition of vehicle. Its indeed a good idea in buying used Sierra and doing minor modifications .

I dont think tata sierra is a excllent vehicle for now a days, and even you cant get spares for that, maintainance is too costly, as per my suggestion please dont go for it, and if you want it still, 97 you will get it in 50 to 60 k not more than that.

Near my home, there is this guy who in one week flat, modified a SIERRA into a pick up. What he has done is taken off the rear side glass, chopped off the C Pillar and pushed the rear glass to behind the front seats. The vehicle looks so cool. I've now upgraded to a 1999 SAFARI, its an awesome vehicle. Lucky me, it even has 4x4. Modifying costs are completely dependent on the garage you choose. Road side guys can do it for much less if you supervise their job. 20 to 30 should be easy if you are not buying things at MRP
