hello......mr.karan..punto is new car in india.and maruti swift is good runing in india.better condition etc. (vxi) 4.43lkah avera-16.1 top speed 160 power starring-yes (ldi) 4.78 avera-17.8 top speed-158 power starring-yes (lxi) 3.99 avera-16.1 top speed 160 power starring yes (zxi) 5.25 avera 19.1 top speed 158 power strring yes..........so that's a petrol cars.....i am advising u swift is a good mileage car,well condition,good pick up.......

Hi,
The puckup and power of Swift is slightly better than Punto.But considering other parameters like handling,sturdy build etc Punto will be a beter selection.

Test drove the Punto 1.3 multijet.. BIGGGGG Disappointment.
Had a Swift VDi earlier.. Brilliant Car.. Excellent power, pickup and pretty quiet too (except for the door rattle)
The punto on the other hand was sluggish and on increasing rpm, pretty noisy too.. Also visibility is no great shakes too.. Parts quality is also not right up there but no too bad either.

Hi Karan,

It depends on what are the parameters that you are analysing before taking a buying decision.

The Swift has proven to be a wonderful car, both performancewise and with ease of the maruti maintenance. Its practically a headache less car.

Fiat , despite being in the country since quite some time is still limping tofind its base strong.Though all its recent launched cars have been superb in build, performance and handling, its services are pathetic with no good geographical distribution. Now with Tata Service Options, my frank opinion is , its doing them no better.

Punto is a nice car but swift beats it straight. Go for the Swift. Costwise, Performancewise, maintenancewise, and pedigreewise.

Hi Karan,

Please don't go by people saying that Punto is a sluggish car to drive, it's completely untrue. The acceleration is more linear throughout the power band. In Swift, the turbo kicks in at 2000 RPM delivering 190Nm of torque giving a feeling of sudden rush in power. In Punto, the max torque of 197Nm is linear, so your acceleration from zero is better compared to Swift. Maruti borrows the engine from Fiat, there is nothing much in difference than the way two manufacturers have mated the gear box to it. Please compare the 0-100 figures of both and they would be identical at appx 17 secs.
Please make your decision based on what suits you. Punto is a better built car with loads of features. This is a car that'll last long. More spacious. Drawbacks are slightly cramped leg space for driver, tapering back roofline is uncomfortable for tall back seaters. This car will handle better and the ride will be excellent.
On the other hand, Maruti's are built to a price. They have excellent spares availability and cheaper to maintain. The service levels are good.
Howvever, with 15000 kms service interval and 30000 kms oil change recommended by Fiat for Punto, you shouldn't be visiting the service center too often.
Please think about pros and cons before makaing the big decision as your decision cannot be reversed once you buy.

Don't take Swift.Swift(d) has Fixed Geometry Turbocharger while punto has Variable Geometry Turbo,which is better technology.Punto has thick body.Maruti cars are made from Tin.Korean & Japanese car makers give preferance to milege & pick-up.But european's prefe.to passenger safty.
Do you want premature death then take Swift.I have Swift Dizire.If I pushed to 100k.m. I feet that i will die.
I had Fiat Uno I was pushing it 100-120.But I felt that iam going speed of 80 k.m.After all in terms at safty & life guarantee,After sales service,Pick-up & Milege these things are useless.Jaan Hai to Jahhan Hai Yaar!
