Well, the wheel bearings need to be changed in the most extreme cases..that is if u are detouring very often or the roads u mostly drive on are not good.. they might have done it in good faith only... so dont worry..
but make sure the next set of tyres u buy are soft radials...they do lesser damage to the suspension n bearings...all the best!

I have ownership experiance of 5 years of two honda city. Both GXI and Vtec. I can tell you my experiance with honda been good. They have one of the best servic organization. Your seems to be a isolated case. It might be due to the way car was driven or the terrain on which it was driven. You should trust Honda guys they maintain quality.

Honda generally has fixed tenure in terms of Kms done at which they will wary the kind of service done - Oil change, Filter clean/change or parts replacement.You may confirm if it was as perthat schedule or due to excessive wear & tear. Otherwise, I agree with Farid, Honda is a very trustworthy organization and they ensure their dealerships adhere to those standards.

Well, its an extreme case... Normally with Honda the Wheel bearing should cover more than 100000 kms. I have 2002 model & till date no problem even after 50000 kms. Pl. introspect if you drive on bumpy/water logged bad roads all through. If not then you may question Honda higher ups on this.

normally Wheel bearing need not be changed in honda city in the whole life of the car.Wheel bearings are normally changed if u r experiencing sound in your suspension..which can be detected when by u also and u r wheel aligner guy, which shud be done after every 5K kms.Unless there is noise in the suspension there is absolutely no need to change it.
I had changed my 99 honda city rear bearing last year, and i paid 1650 rupees for that outside of honda service center.

Another case is that u might also come across of change of parts with other cars at your service center, this normally happens at every service center.
You might have read these things also in newspapers.

Replacing of wheel bearings does not mean complete worn out of bearings.Even if there is smaller pitting which may be due to loss of grease due to dust entering through cap etc.AGenerally 50K KM is a good life of any bearings. Honda car bearings are good inquality and canlost even longer .At 40K KM it must have been replaced under warranty.
