Safari is a great suv with best power in its segment.The new Dicor engine is refined, interior quality is improved the mileage is app 8.0 to 12 KMPL which is quite compared to other SUV like Scorpio and Innova .Overall it does make a good selection.

safari-old models from 1998-2000 have a very
sluggish underpowered engine.
however the new model 2008 onwards- 2.2 vtt has dicor-
engine-which is very powerful and excellent
in its category.also safari has a great suspension and leg room compared to scorpio,innova,qallis,etc.
the new model 2.2 v.t.t diesel is excellent.

As Suhail told a new Italian Designed Safari is about to hit the Market by 2010 ending...but it may burn ur pockets...Better a Safari 2.2 4*2 now...u need not go for any higher models as its waste of money...basic version includes all provisions equal to a top end Sedan..Moreover being a two time Safari owner I say this is the besty vehicle I hv ever seen in terms of Steardyness, Safety and Milage(I got 13 on highway...nd I am going 2 buy a third this week).All the best 4 ur new suv...happy n safe driving
