I SUGGEST DO NOT BUY EITHER...I HAVE A BALENO SINCE LAST 3 YRS..EXCELLENT CAR...WONDERFUL PERFORMANCE...I HAVE DRIVEN ALONG THE LENGTH AND BREADTH OF THE COUNTRY PROBLEM FREE...BUT FITTING A CNG KIT ON IT IS NOT ADVISABLE AS BALENO HAS GOT BHP OF 94 AND THAT IS ITS USP...CNG NOT ADVISABLE

I agree. Don't spoil Baleno by fitting CNG/LPG. I explored this some time back. Unless you travel daily 70+ KM, it is not worth the money spent. Second, LPG generates more heat than the engine can take. The current Baleno engine is not tested for LPG Heat & it's performance is ???

Hi,
By fitting LPG/CNG kit to reliable sedans like Accent and Baleno results in faster reduction of engine life.Though initially fuel economy wil be much better later on stages maintenance problems is bound to multiple. hence we do not recommend CNG kit for the same.

I own a Baleno 2005 model. Till now it has done 27000kms. I had asked the same question on this site earlier say around 4-5 months back. I had recieved only one reply and i.e., from Sh. Shiva Shanker and he had adviced that there is no harm in installing a CNG kit provided my running is more than 50-60 kms a day and that there was no effect on the engine whatso ever. I recently got a CNG kit installed in the car from Maruti itself. No doubt the car when driven on CNG, the pick up goes down a little, but as far as my studies on the net too , there is no effect on the engine at all and performance is great when again switched back to petrol.Definetly it is very very economical to run ur vehicle on CNG rather on petrol. As per my own survey, maruti cars are more compatible to CNG rather than any other make cars.Infact I know Maruti personel who themselves have even Maruti 800's running on CNG WITHOUT ANY HASSLE. Rest the choice is entirely yours, dear Abhishek. For any further query, u can still call me on my mobile no. 9810738520.

I sort of agree with what the others have said here. I have owned a Baleno in the past and the car has been a pleasure. Performance was awesome. I took it to 175 kmph on the Bangalore-Madras highway and it did it without even a wobble. Fitting CNG to this wonderful car would probably spoil the driving experience more than anything else. Technically I do not think there is any issue with CNG. There is a post in this thread which says that the acceleration reduces a little. I think it reduces a lot. For most drivers who use the car only to get from one place to another the change in acceleration might not be a problem. But for me it is. I drove a friend's car that was fitted with CNG, it just did not work for me in terms of performance.

Buy a Baleno for the car itself and not to cripple it with CNG.

Hi, I own a baleno and have a BRC LPG kit on it. its been close to two years since i fit this kit and have done around 15K on LPG, i agree with the fact that the pickup and milage reduces but my question is how often do u acheive the speed of 175KMPH. i know for a fact that a stock baleno can reach 180KMPH and hvae done it myself. on a LPG you can achive 165KMPH with 5 people. i did check with lot of people before fitting the LPG kit to my baleno and did find out that maruti cars are beautifuly desgined that a LPG will go with it with out any problem. again you have diffrent brands and diffrents types of LPG kit. please do get back if you need more information on that.

Praveen Owner Of Accent
Hi Abhishek...We owned a Accent with CNG, The effect on performance lowers by 15-20% as compared to petrol, CNG also requires regular tunings-settings-service ( depends on climate changes).

Maruti cars are better options for CNG comparitively to any Brand Hyundai / Ford / TATA thats our personal experience....we had sold the Accent and own a Wagon R CNG now......Hope will help u in deciding
