Just now i purchased a 2nd hand Maruti Alto-LX 2007 version having lapsed insurance but RC was provided to me. I am the 2nd buyer & the original buyer had converted this LX version into LXI. But on the RC, it is mentioned as LX & the logo on the car is LXI. Kindly let me know if there would be any problem in getting RC transferred to my name or getting insurance of this car. Also, tell me the insurance will be in the name of LX or LXI and whether there will be any problem in getting claim in case of any accident because car is modified to LXI but mentioned on RC is LX.

Sood
absolutely legal to add/ remove parts to upgrade a car- no problems unless you remove safety gear.
in fact you can add alloys- broader tyres/ HID k&N filter- fogs/ DRLs and still have no problems
Badge- You can go to a good car market and buy a Lambroghini badge and stick it at the backside-doesnt matter -your car is what it was registered.

Though its a basic variant, may be the customer has put extra accessories and for show off put higher variant badge. While renewal of insurance, the model and variant as mentioned in RC book is considered.
