Hi Team,
I'm planning to get my first car. From my friends and relatives i came to know that one of the best options available is Maruthi Suzuki. So, i researched a bit and came to a conclusion that i'll be going for a Swift Dzire. But i still have a confusion whether to go for a diesel or a petrol engine. My strong interest is in Dzire VDi. I'm planning to buy the car within a months time and with 85% loan. Can you please let me know what could be the ideal one in todays era. I'll somehow manage the budget but my concern is is it worth what i'm gonna spend or even a petrol engine will do, as the petrol price has declined by 3 Rs in the last few days. So my concern is whether i should go for a diesel car at this time.

So waiting for your valuable suggestions.

The selection between petrol and diesel version depends upon usage and investment. If initial investment is not a constraint then diesel version would be better for longterm usage .Swift dzire VDI would be a ideal selection.

Thumb rule is if you are driving 18000 kms in year or more go for Diesel else petrol

Hi, Congratulations on your decision to go for first car.
Here are my views:
1. What will be your run per week/month/year? This must be a critical factor in taking decision for deisel or petrol.

As mentioned by several users, Diesel is for those customers whose running is more.
Keep in mind that maintaining a diesel car is also expensive as compared to petrol.
I m using Ritz Diesel with daily running of 85Kms. On my last service at 20K kms i have paid 9500rs.
