when u have a budget of 3.5 to 4.5 lacks,
y dont u go for SWIFT DIESEL LDI. This car is now available for around 4.6 lacks.
Now Fiat Palio diesel is also coming with new ingine and load of new features and cost around 4.16 lacks ex-showroom.
Go for any of these cars. They are true value for money. All the very Best.Good Luck.
And these cars also have very low maintainence cost and high average.
My Personal Choice:- SWIFT DIESEL.

Hi Saurabh,

I suggest you go for WagonR / Santro Xing as the A-Star & i10 have narrow space inside. If you want good returns & less maintainance then go for WagonR.

i would seriouly recommened you to go for swift Ldi best in performance, nice fuel efficency, low maintanace cost, good after sales service,
awesum re sale value...and nice comfort....

Try the Fiat Palio. You must try the Palio 1.6, it will come the same price and there is no small car like this in India with its 100bhp engine. You will outgrow a car like A Star, Alto etc in no time, but not a Palio 1.6. You wont feel apolegetic using it after a few years like you certainly would using a small car like A Star.

If it is for,
Milage + Resale value = Swift Ldi
Milage + Safety = Palio stile SD
Cost + Safety = Palio stile SL
Cost + Performace = Santro GL
Cost = Maruti 800 dx

Please don't look A Star, WagonR, Zen Estilo or Alto etc

With the budget and options mentioned you can go for i10 .
Best alternative would be a Santro GLS

One thing that Ravishankar has pointed out that most people ignore is safety. I agree with hi on that points, what 2 km less fuel effient compared to Safety ! Go for a Palio.
