I want to buy a diesel sedan in a budget of 8.0L. I have short listed Etios & Ford fiesta classic. My criterias are Durability, Fuel economy, Maintanance cost & cost of the vehicle. I also use vehicle for my business purpose where I will be loading the boot with around 250kgs of load aproximately twice a month. for around 50Kms. Kindly sggest. Also let me know if there is any better vehicle excluding dezire due to its long waiting period.

Hi,

Looking at your budget and requirement to carry load, I would suggest you to try the Xylo (if you would think of a MUV)
Ford may not be a good investment due to its weak turbo, expensive after sales and low resale value.
Etios too has many cons that needs to be understood and most importantly the boot space in the Etios may not suffice. If I was at your place, I would select in the following order

- Mahindra Xylo
- Chevrolet Tavera
- would wait for desire
- would stretch a bit for SX4

you could consider the ERTIGA, which is a recent launch. It has got space, the diesel one will be cost effective and service of maruti will be better.

I would suggest that between the two, you should go for the Ford Fiesta .
I have had one for 3 years and have driven it over 70000km .
The only costs i had incurred during this time were of the routine services, done at exact proper intervals and i also did take the Extended warranty just to be insured against any dangerous expenses .
I dont think anyone can say anything about the fiesta's pickup, except someone who has never owned one in their life .
It runs and shoots like a bullet . And consistently gave me a fuel economy of 16-18kmpl with the AC on at all times in the harsh delhi summer and mad traffic, rising to 20-21 in the winters .
I will like to mention that i did not incurr any extra expense on the car except the routine maintenence as mentioned in the service book .

As compared to the Etios .
Just go and feel the car .
The car is made from tin foil in comparison .
There is excessive engine vibration and noise in comparison .
The seats are so thin . And i'm scared if my Liva's seats will last more than 3 years .

I will suggest go for Fiesta .
It is a proven engine in over 1 lac figos plus over 70000 fiestas, going at the market reports .

Get extended warranty on it .
Get a Total Maintenence Plan .
And take it for regular service .

And live life in Heaven .

Also, an advice .
Why dont you go for the NEW Basic Ford Fiesta .
It looks like a BOMB . So sexy .
Has an even better 1.5 litre world appreciated Engine . Excellent economy . And ABS Airbags even in the Basic version .
Yes its a little expensive but far worth the price .

Yes ! a Toyota Innova at 15 lac is reliable .
But an Etios Diesel at 7 lac is not an innova .

The Ford is born tough .
I so wish, if i had not bought my Liva in January 2012 . I would have definitely bought the New Ford Fiesta Automatic or the new ECOSPORT in Diwali this year .

For Load Carrying if there is more Volume a Bolero will be a economical choice.
