after watching many reviews of etios i found that toyota has done lot of things to price it lower, like one wiper and washer, itegrated headrest, not much styling and curves or one reverse light.

the thing is that its rivalry like swift dzire is better in features and equipments used doesn't feel low and are standard upto the mark like in other hatch or sedan cars, don't you think that cost cutting factors by toyota make it very cheap as all the cars even maruti 800 gives two wipers , both reverse lights ?
moreover i felt very bad that even power steering is not given in base model!!

please comment that what you feel?
does this car is really worth buying?

Hi,
As mentioned, there is compromise in features of Etios. Hoing for Swoft Dzire would also be a good selection for its proven performance and features in given range of price.

the major thing is that this car is really unique, like the car says they have built that car which makes its own segment. "Q class".
why so ,take a look at it.

the car has 1.5l engine whereas your swift dzire has 1.2l engine, hence etios delievrs more power and torque.

all other cars like verna ,fiesta ,city linea ,their base price is approx RS 7 lakhs in which they don't even offer safety packages and other features.

if you consider etios, for 6lakh rupees you get all goodies and safety features of airbags and abs both.

the cost cutting is done to price it lower from the other cars and give you engine of sedan cars for more driving pleasure.

the car is neither of dzire segment nor of city, fiesta or verna segment, makes it more unique.

just take a test drive of etios and you will feel what is there in it.
check out if that one wiper is really effective and i thing toyota might have given provision to install second light if needed.

the lack of power steering made me too shocked and for this i feel same as you.

but overall i consider it as a good buy and better substitute of swift dzire those who don't like dzire.

rest the car will take time to set in market and reviews of owners used long term would clarify about its pros and cons.

cost does make a lot of difference but as far as the lack of features mentioned i do not agree etios has sufficient features ,the one wiper is standard in many very costly cars even some models of fiat and even merecedes have only one wiper ,even sx4 a so called premium brand of maruti has one reverse light the same is with logan but that is not just to cut cost ,as far as base model without powe stearing well that is targeted for the taxi segment generally not for private usage like tata indica dle model which cheaper and is prefered by the cab walas.

yea may be for taxi or cabs but these days cab/taxi owners don't prefer petrol cars as they are not economical but yes in some cases it is possible, i am too surprised with it.

mantra,i dont think you live in this practical world or maybe u havent used a cab in recent times all new cabs in the the sedan segments are petrol cars fitted with lpg or cng ,which is much cheaper than diesel and less polluting too.the difference between a petrol and diesel car is atleast a lac on the other hand u can easily fit a cng kit endorsed on papers in 35k to 40 k,and the car then runs at under 2 rs a km which is much lower than a diesel car of the same segment.

hey dude i am in punjab and i haven't seen any petrol car used for taxi/cabs.
even in my city the local cabs are indigo XL/indigo marina/ford ikon and fiat petra
all in diesel,
and on long routes tata indigo, toyota corolla diesel, or some have accent diesel.
i have never seen a petrol cab and its my city.

your thing might be in delhi, or some other cities but not in mine, and cng or lpg cars cannot be use on highways without risk.

yes cabs in cities may be still diesel taxi's are always preferred for highways

there are number of cng stations in chandigarh ludhiana and even maruti vans hired by internatinal passengers at the airport ,im talking of legal cabs not private vehicles go to various parts of punjab everyday specially from the delhi airport and they run on cng or lpg ,want to check urself go to murthal on gt karnal highway and count for urself at dhabas at murthal or outskirts of karnal from 6 in the morning u will find punjabis having paranthas all over the highway dhabas and most of these cabs with interstate permits are petrol indicas vans even innovas running on cng and to clear your doubt about cng its completely safe if installed by an authorised workstation .none of my cars run on cng.

i visit delhi after 6 months and yes there has been many cabs 24x7 at murthal, sukhdev dhaba, mainly all NRI's going to punjab.
since i do my journey at night with driver so didn't noticed on it.

i will definitely notice next time on my visit.

in chd. legal cabs started by govt.'s are on diesel.
our local buses are on diesel, they are the same marcopolo buses used in delhi but use diesel.

just three wheelers are promoted to run on lpg and that with three pumps in our city causing lack in supply and long que for three wheelers drives.

we have no cng pump in our city.
