I wanted to buy hyundai i20. Base petrol version Era 1.2 BS-IV. Will it be a good buy? I heard off some stuff like low powered engine/ engine revs sometimes in a loaded car on a high pick up/ AC problem etc. I do not know how much of this is true? But going by the look/ space/ features / not so bad mileage; it really makes a mark. Can anybody please suggest whether it will be a good buy or not? If it is not then please suggest any other model. My budget is Rs 5.5 lakh(on road proce).

i use asta diesel of i20 and found no such problem .

one of my friend own asta petrol and i have takes its test drive too, the car is not having that instant punch when you gear up and suddenly wants to go at higher speed, like swift delievers, but..... but i find it safe because petrol car is owned by them who mostly drive less and only in city and where you can't go beyond 70kmph.
the car is not that underpowered that you will say i press the accelerator and engine is not doing any job or poor but the punch like swift is missing.
now the positive things.

the car is full of luxuries, comfort, seating position, features ,biggest boot, ample space for three persons at back with good leg room.
with very appealing looks and i believe best for city use who don't want a sedan but not even a small car.
moreover my friend has done 145kmph speed and the car was full on stability.
the petrol engine is very smooth and you will love to drive.
with 12-13kmpl with ac in city, rest depending upon driving conditions and hands.
there is no problem we have faced of ac,its effective enough.
my last suggestion go for magna model as you will get integrated music system, auto ac and defogger, power windows.

but if you want a car with punch is the swift, but with a commomn look and not spacious.

Volkswagen polo 1.2 Lites petrol comfortline (on road 5.5 lakhs approx). 165km/hr max speed, very stable and reliable. Awesome looks, makes everyone head turn. Dont think! its the best in the class

Hyundai i20 is a preoven performance car and the AC performance is also quite good.It would be worth going for the same.
