Hello Sir,
I have planned to buy a sedan around 6-7 lakhs. I have narrowed my choices to the new tata manza (may be elan) or mahindra renault logan. The simplest reason why i narrowed to these is only value for money and personally i dont like the body of swift dzire or ford new ikon; no diesel version in hyundai accent; linea & fiesta very costly for me.
My usage will be around 1000 km per month; may be a long drive in between. This is my first car; not much experience in driving; just have a license to drive thats it. I am definitely very keen in saving fuel costs (diesel); and at the same time very particular about after sales service and maintenance cost. I do definitely need a car with safety packages and of course a family car.
I am almost in fond of buying a manza but it costs more than a logan which also gives same features. Kindly guide me in buying.
Thanking you,
Suresh, Pondicherry

Hi suresh,
Both the cars are value for money, my experience for logan says that it is the vfm as it gives me around 23-24 km/ltr (surely) on highways without doubt. i m using it since 2 yrs and crossed 92k. Very easy to maintain. Manza looks good but overall i think Logan is the best and most under rated car

With the running you have mentioned and your inexperience at driving i have my doubts whether you should go in for a diesel car, petrol would be a better option for you unless and until you are doing atleast 2000 - 2500 kms or more per month on a regular basis. There is a cost diference also which you should calculate over a period of three years.
If you going for petrol then look at the Chevrolet Aveo, it is a much better car with good interiors, accept for the resale value (that too is not very greatly lower)it is very good value for money, check it out once otherwise you should go in for the new Manza launched two days back with diesel. This too has good interiors with diesel.

Initial higher costs will not matter as Diesels have a hihger resale value.
Go for the Manza Aura plus and you won't regret your decision.

Hi! Suresh!!
As per your driving experience and not much of use, I would suggest totally new Toyato Etios Petrol. If your usage increases afterward, you can get fitted CNG Kit.

IF your running is 1000kms per month my advice is pls go for a petrol car. Myself is useing petrol logan since March2010. I drove the car more than 500 kms in single strech driving is a pleasure in logan and i got 20.5 in higway very good milage and now the product is own by mahindra. Boot space is excellent in this class. And you can fit cng ( mahindra appoved ).if you want more details regarding logan performance pls go through the www.clublogan.com and www.loganformulation.com

Considering the overall requirments, Tata Manza would be the best selection. The advantages are the styling, power, build quality and service backup. You can choose the variant as per budget.
