Can the mileage reading meter of a car altered by anyone
Can the mileage reading meter of a car altered by anyone? Can i trust the reading as the actual kms run by the car when buying used car?

Generally speaking, ALL GAUGES AND METERS CAN BE TEMPERED WITH.This is in the owners control.

If that is the case, the company provides guarantee of the engine life for say 1 Lac or 1.5 Lac kms. If the meter can be tampered, how the company will come to know the actual kms run by an engine if a consumer complains of any engine problem with a tampered meter?

I DONT KNOW FOR CAR METERS .
BUT IN BIKES IF METER TEMPERD ,WE CAN EASYLY FOUND AS IF METER NOTTEMPERD THAN READING WILL BE STRAIGHT WE CAN READ IN 1 SECOND LIKE 12586 BUT IF TEMPERD READING NOS WILL LOSE ITS GRIPPNES AND IT WILL SHOW SOME UP AND DOWN POSITION LIKE '.''',.. we cant read it in one glance ((try it in car may be same system )) Posted: 3807 day(s) ago |

Hi,
As a genral rule meters can be tampered and its very common with taxi used cars for taking advantage of warranty. Most of the owner used cars meters are not tampered. U just take all service invoices & trace it. Ask him to give u atleast one service invoice per year. U uself will conclude if it's true or false.
Else try to get somebody known person at that perticular brand's service station & try to dig up the history of the car. Understand one thing, no one is fool to sell of the good conditioned car...... Posted: 3805 day(s) ago |
