I own a Yamaha Fazer'09 model, which has done +19,000 kms and I drive normally at 60+ kmph. The Drive-chain becomes loose quite often, got it chkd at the SVC. The fellow says, U've got replace both The Chain and The Sprockets, which comes out to be a total of Rs. 2,800.
I just wanted to know, if according to the details i've given (bikes total run so far and speed), is it mandatory to change the chain as well, or the SVC fellow is trying to make a fool out of me? Merely changing the Chain or the Sprocket will help pr not?

check same problem @ ur nearest mechanick and take ideas,
than decide what is need to do .any way check price of set ,i think 2800/ is too more. there is no use to change only chain. Posted: 3830 day(s) ago |

Hi,
Generally at around 20K KM of usage , the chain and sprocket has to be changed. Always both have to be changed for efficient working. If its authorised service center you can always relay on getting genuine spares.If its local workshop then you can go with mechanic to authorised dealer for getting the genuine spares. Get rid of your Fazer dude. It's only an overloaded FZ, that's all. It will do you a world of good to exchange the underpowered Fazer for a Karizma R or a P220 both of which have fewer niggles and far better performance.
