Hey! you should close you eyes and go for a second hand Maruti 800. you would get it in maximum 100000 to 150000 rupees (in acceptable condition) or else if you get a better buy from somewhere check on the following before you get into it.
1. The owners name on the vehicle
2. The registration tag and the year of mnfg.
3. Whether the car is still on hypothecation or not, if yes under whose name was it hypothecated
4. The outer frame of the car, dont buy a battered and bruised car from all sides
5. Get the engine checked using a local mechanic who would charge you 300 bucks for his opinion, usually all mechanics give you an opinion.
6. Get the car re-valued incase of doubts on the car thru the local automibile association.
7. Lastly take a test drive and see the driving condition of the vehicle.. If you see the brake paddles are going right thru, the steering wheel is turning to its maximum to hardly see a turn of the vehicle instead, the sits are worn off and the lower leg space panel is rusted then don't buy it.

Maruti 800 is the best buy. On road price for New car wold be something like 2.5 - 2.6 L for A/C model at the same time a 3 year car would cost u something like 1.3 - 1.4 L depending upon ur location. If u are comfortable with the EMI, you should go in for a new vehicle only.

I see that most of the advices are for Maruti 800. But my question here is if u can go for 2nd hand 800 than y not Nano which is soon launching?...So considering that you would be ready to spend more than that...note the following imp points
- A 2nd hand car is not a better option unless u are financially not very sound or u dnt have time and patience to maintain a new car.
- 800 would give u an AC but not all the features
- If you plan to keep the car for more than 5 yrs that the suggestion would be a new car rather than 2nd hand one as u need not have to spend a penny on maintenance.
- So I would suggest you go for Alto LXI with powersteering coz in long run u wud realise the need of Power Steering. Also its more spacious than a 800 but wud give u the same mileage.Be ready to spend a little more but that would be very helpful in long run.

Dnt just see the cost...see the features!

i have read all the ans ,all are telling u to go for second hand but the maintainance of used car vill be more than nevv car & im from middle class fam , i have purchased used 800 maintainence is un bearable so i have sold it vith in 6 months so u better go for nevv if ur budget is less then go for nano
