Dear Sir,
Recently I purchased a 2006 November model WagonR Lxi for Rs.256000/- which covered 31000 kms. The vehicle have a minor problem ie steering is not free (tight) while driving the car above 20 kms, I checked the vehicle with the Maruti people they checked the Power Steering motor and overhauled the rack, damper( I don't know the correct technical names), done wheel balancing and wheel alignment and tested the vehicle by replacing front tyres but the problem remaining the same and told me that there is no problem in the steering related parts Finally they told me to "never mind it" because some vehicle have such problem but it cannot rectify, but I am not satisfied with it. Sir do you have any idea what is the problem is. Kindly give reply

Hi,
As the rack and pinion assembly and all related parts are serviced. If the problem persist then it should be due to wear and tear in power steering gear.The same needs to be inspected with full attention and repaired/replaced as required. Posted: 3862 day(s) ago |

pl. check front strut thrust bearing (strut kit).replace if required. pl. drive new wagon-R and check that really your steering is hard.

marutis have electronic power steering (not sure about wagon but had it in my zen) which makes the steering harder at speeds higher than 90kmph. May be the electronic steering is wrongly sensing ur speed.
