Price

The various fuel trims in Toyota Innova are priced differently. The Diesel trims are priced between Rs. 10,66,912/- to Rs. 15,65,560/-.

Exterior

Talking about exterior styling, the Innova carries the same old silhouette that hasn't been changed a bit over the years, but that doesn’t mean it looks outdated. The car features a more prominent radiator grille with horizontal slats. The bumper features a thick wide air dam and rounded fog lamps wrapped in silver surrounds, and silver skid plate. The headlamps that move sideways complement the bold chrome grille. It has an overall decent looking front design. On sides, the MPV carries simple yet effective design. Despite being a large MPV, it does not look out of proportion. The side skirts, stylish alloys, chrome door handles and body coloured ORVMs with integrated turn indicators make the Innova look good from sides. At the back, the Toyota Innova features a tail-gate mounted spoiler and new reflector strip. The headlamps are simple, while a chrome strip runs across the boot lid and merges into tails that further enhances the overall profile. The flared wheel arches of the MPV have been fitted to a newly styled 15-inch alloy wheels.

Interior

The Innova is a big MPV, and Toyota has designed the cabin of the car to offer practicality of a MPV and comfort of a sedan. All three rows get separate air-conditioning vents, bottle holders and a good legroom and headroom space. The beige coloured fabric upholstery suits the Indian buyers taste. Its perfectly shaped seats offer excellent comfort to passengers during long drives. The second row gets captain seats, which is the best place to seat and enjoy long travelling. Third row too is good and offers seat for two adults without compromising on comfort. The rear bench can be folded to increase the cargo volume. Gear knob and door panels get wood finishing that provides richness to cabin. The top-spec variant features like reverse parking camera, 2-DIN touch screen entertainment system, multi-functional steering with controls for audio, automatic climate control and few other features.

Engine & Transmission

The Toyota Innova MPV is powered by a 2.5-litre diesel engine, which is available in both BSIII and BSIV norms. This engine is capable of producing a top power output of 102PS and a peak torque of 200Nm. The common rail diesel engine is refined, and offers excellent NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) levels. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels of the MPV via a five-speed manual gearbox.

Performance & Handling

This 4.5 metre long MPV is powered by a 2.5-litre diesel engine that produces 102PS and 200Nm of torque. The vehicle doesn't feel underpowered, and the engine pulls this MPV cleanly without much turbo lag. The power delivery is linear that further enhances the overall driving experience. The five-speed gearbox works well. It can cruise at well over 100kmph, while the torque spread is widespread between 1200 and 3600rpm. The Innova is a sorted product that offers good stability, decent driveability and handling. There's somebody roll on corners, which is negligible.

Braking System

The Innova MPV offers an excellent stability in both city and on highway runs, and that is one of the reasons why it is considered to be the best option for long run. It is equipped with disc brakes up front and drums at the rear. ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) is standard across all variants that avoids wheel-locking and skidding on sudden brake application.

Mileage

The 2494 cc Diesel - powered variant delivers a fuel economy of 10 kmpl in city and 12 kmpl on highways

Safety Features

On safety front, the Innova MPV gets dual airbags (driver & co-driver), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Engine Immobilizer, Central Locking, Child Safety Lock, rear parking sensors with Camera, rain sensing wipers and fog lamps. However, the entry-level variant misses out on important features like airbags and ABS.

Verdict

If you are looking for a car that offers comfortable seat for 7 or 8 adults and is easy to drive, then the Innova MPV is one of the best products to drive home. The vehicle offers an excellent driving experience and a segment leading comfort in both city traffic and on highways. If you are doing regular touring than Innova would be a right product.

Competition

The Toyota Innova competes to a range of cars of different segments. The entry-level variants rivals against the like of MarutiErtiga, Chevrolet Sail, Nissan Evalia, Honda Mobilio and Renault Lodgy. On the other hand, the mid- and top-end variants take on the likes of Chevrolet Tavera, Mahindra Xylo and Mahindra XUV500.

Pros

  1. Spacious Cabin
  2. Excellent driveability

Cons
