This is a brief overview of the Skoda Yeti.
Exteriors of Skoda Yeti
Skoda Yeti is the fifth model in its Indian portfolio and Skoda is definitely looking at introducing a strong off-roader in the Indian market with some real tough features. The tall boy stance is pretty evident from the SUV’s first look. The looks claim it to be one of Skoda’s most promising SUV candidates in the Indian market. It is 4.2 meters long and a 5-door hatch model that carries inspirational looks of VW Tiguan and Skoda Roomster.
Below are various images of the car.
Interiors of Skoda Yeti
Skoda Yeti has been awarded 5 star rating for safety by Euro NCAP. The model features roomy and spacious interiors of a midsize SUV which is well complemented with features like Electronic Stability Programme, Anti Locking Braking system, Hydraulic Brake assist, Anti-slip regulation and an Electronic Differential Lock.
The model has enough pockets and holders in the front including drink holder in central console, a pen holder and a storage compartment. The rear seats feature foldable trays and enough room at the back for the rear passengers to stretch out the most even in on the longest of journeys. Engine of Skoda Yeti
The model will be available with diesel engines with two options in India. Skoda Yeti in India will feature 2.0L turbo-charged diesel engine with 5-speed manual transmission producing 1.7L displacement delivering power of 110PS @ 4200 rpm and a torque of 250 Nm at 1500- 2500 rpm. The second variant will be mated by 6-speed manual transmission with advanced Haldex clutch.
Other Features
Skoda has taken care of the Indian driving conditions and the ground clearance of the car speaks of the same. The car has undergone strict homologation to not only suit the Indian driving norms but also to deliver the best driving experience to its Indian customers. The car is extremely robust to handle off-road experiences on rough terrains.
The model is expected to compete with models like Tata Safari, Mahindra Scorpio, Tata Indicruz and Maruti Grand Vitara.
Conclusion
Skoda has tried to introduce an SUV model in the mid-size SUV segment to deliver optimum features to its Indian customers lusting for a taste of luxury along with value for money. As the driving experiences still remain to be tested, the model still needs to prove its mettle on Indian grounds.

Yeti looks like a fantastic option if launched in the price range of Scorpio / Safari. Anything more would be taking Indian consumer for granted. A price of 20 Lacs translates to almost USD 50K .. for a small suv. Also, automatic option is missing which is something that even small car makers have launched.. Price would be the key factor for its success and Skoda apparently wants to have a failed model. Ask dealer and they will quote 18L as the price

I recently had a look at Tafe Access, Hosur road, Bangalore. I am told that it may cost around 20 lakhs on road and only available in all wheel drive variant only with 2.0lt. diesel with manual gearbox. I think it's too expensive by any standards, as everytime Skoda is trying too much push itself into a premium segment which it doesn't belong to it. Later how about maintainance, All those bought other brands may be happier to know the price, and may be avoiding Skoda maitainance which costs well more than Merc and BMW.

Well, I was waiting for it's launch in India until Mar-2010. Lost my patience & got Mahindra Xylo E8 with ABS. I guess i have made the right decision. It's really a 100% VFM MUV. Sometimes i feel it's better than Innova.

Expecting a flop show by a major auto company as they take an Indian customer for granted. Why is the automatic transmission in Diesel 2 litre CRDI(7 gears tectronic mated to a DSG gearbox)not being launched in India?.A Mahindra xylo is a much better value for money with reduced maintainance costs.

Finally decided to launch in Oct 10. The rear side is not attractive at all, looks like a delivery van box type. The most important for Indian market is price and mileage. As announced earlier if skoda gives the price of max. 15L on the road is good otherwise it will not click.
