Renault Scala Review

Renault is an automobile company, which has been in the news lately for all the right reasons. Its compact SUV, The Duster has been a runaway success. The Duster has helped Renault as a brand to earn recognition in the Indian auto market.

The year 2012 has been impressive for Renault with so many launches. Renault’s five product launch plan for India will conclude with the launch of a C segment sedan called the Scala.

Renault Scala, like the Pulse is also an outcome of rebadging the Nissan Sunny. Nissan Sunny has been doing fantastic numbers and this has encouraged Renault to fill the void in its range with this product.

Promising a difference in styling and some other tweaks, Renault is hoping the Scala would help them maintain the positive momentum which the Duster has created. We review the Renault Scala RxZ on the winding paths in Shimla and find out more about it.

  • RENAULT OWN NISSAN BUT QUALITY WISE THE NISSAN IS MUCH BETTER AND THE BUILD QUALITY SHOULD BE BETTER HERE IN THE UK NOBODY LIKE THE RENAULT ONLY THE VERY SMALL CLIO RANGE AND MAGANE PERSONALLY I WOULD GO FOR A NISSAN FOR THE BUILD QUALITY.
RENAULT IS A COMPANY THAT HAS BROUGHT ALOT OF ELECTRONIC TECHNOLOGY TO THE CAR INDUSTRY BUT IS IN ITS EARLY STAGES AND LOT TO GO WRONG AS IT HAS BEEN GOING WRONG IN EUROPE.
MOST OF THE MODELS HAVE FLOPPED IN THE UK AND THE NISSAN BRAND HAS GROWN MORE THEN THE PARENT BRAND.
LOOK AT HYUNDAI MORE HAPPENING WITH THIS BRAND THE RENAULT.

  • @Pravin Patel : The Ground clearance of 160mm is not that much of an issue as not a lot of Nissan Sunny customers have complained about it. Though, the Swift DZire with its 170mm fairs little better over the Scala, the Scala makes up for it with its legroom.

@Pradeep Mann and Mohan, Prices have still not being declared but then we expect it to be priced around Rs.30K more than the Sunny reason being Renault has positioned itself as a premium brand compared to Nissan.

@Balajee and VInay, Renault has launched the Scala cause of many things. Nissan Sunny is a success story. Renault wanted to make its presence felt in the same C segment. Also, Renault did not want to spend a lot of time and money doing research and bring out a new car whose costs won’t be justified but instead make use of their alliance with Nissan. In this case even the dealers are happy as they have a broader Renault product range to display. Even the customers can have an option of choosing from different types of styling offered.
It actually won’t be a difficult option for the dealers to sell the Scala because even the Sunny is comparatively new. Nissan Sunny is still not a very popular car as the company is on its way of expanding its dealerships. The styling of the Scala is the factor on which Renault is banking on. A higher performing engine would spoil the cost calculations. Also the Scala is not competing with the likes of City and Verna but instead cars like the Dzire, Indigo Manza and the Sunny.

  • Buddy it's the same company.....Renault owns Nissan. The main reason they both sell their cars with a little difference in styling is to give customers more variety and also in most markets either of the company is favored by different audiences...hence the diffrent cars with same styling, Hyundai would jus steal designs till now. Not after the arrival of Mr. Peter Schreyer

  • Sunny comes with 85 ps SOHC Engine. If Scala come with 106 DOHC engine it will give true competition to Rapid, Vento and Verna as well as to Sunny.

  • its good from customer prospective, but it will be difficult for the dealer to sell the same product with different price band. Renault has to put more features in comparison to Sunny and rich quilty to boost the sale of Scala in India.

  • Renault is good Co and they have good portfolio of cars buts still renault shud find a difference frm Nissan product as both have same cars like Pulse and now scala, indian buyers looks for difference as well as performance so if they find scala and sunny are same in performance y they would go for scala instead they would go for sunny as its already launched. So renault beware of not boring the Indian Buyers
