Maruti Suzuki Ertiga : First Impression
After a long and agonising wait of 4 months since Maruti Suzuki unveiled it, Ertiga, the manufacturer's first Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV), has finally arrived. This model, which has been inspired by the RIII concept of the car maker, is based on the platform of the Swift, which holds the distinction of being the most popular premium hatchback of the country. It was showcased for the first time at the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo, where we were impressed that Maruti had taken care of Indian sensibilities while designing a MPV for the first time.
We recently got our hands on the Ertiga VDi, the middle variant of the model. It is placed between the base LDi and top end ZDi variants with a price tag of Rs. 7.9 lacs. Since it is an all-new model and is counted among the most highly anticipated launches of 2012, we were intrigued by the kind of package we would get. The VDi variant of the car has ample features for the suburban family residing in India, the target audience of Ertiga. It is equally suited for a spin in the city and for a long trip, which again makes it perfect for its key demographic.

Ritz, Swift, Dzire and Ertiga all diesel versions have the same 1248cc engine producing almost same torque.. Question is how this engine running Swift 5 seater 1500+kg, will withstand for a 7 seater 1800+kg Ertiga for lonnger life...?

No doubt handling of Ertiga is much better than Innova and other UVs. Also these types of vehicles is to be driven in 80-100 km/hr speed for better control and comfort.It may not be a direct competitor of Innova but will claim atleast 20% of its sales in urban area.

After doing a test drive. i felt no difference from Maruti Swift and this. Ride, control all similar. Little cramped headspace when compared to Maruti Versa. Costwise this should have been under 5lakhs for VDi.
Honestly replacement for Maruti Versa DX2 is sill not available. A diesel Maruti Versa DX2 under 4lac 0n-road will be a revolution in taxi industry.05 May 2012 By David

What is the real mileage of this disel vehicle on road we can expect 17km/liter, Experts are not claiming any mileage in this site ,if the on road mileage is l7 or less Maruthi will return back the wahicales

Maruti Ertiga is a good vehicle for that person who doesn't want the driving pleasure in these type of MPVs. It can not be compared with Toyota Innova, Mahindra Xylo and other cars in this segment bcoz comparison needs everything. The type of driving pleasure, relaxation person get in Toyota Innova & Mahindra Xylo that type of driving pleasure, relaxation he can't get in Maruti Ertiga.
