  • Very dissapointed by MM THAR.It is too expensive. The rates are not competative for Indian market. The mileage is even more dissapointing. So guyz, just go in for used MM 540,Its worth than this MM Thar.

  • even a car mechanic in any meerut(or any city in India) can make a much good jeep from an old discarded mm540/mm550.at least provide some thing like they have in my uploaded picture

15 February 2011 By  Rajeev Rathi
  • well looks are okay but what about the weather control if we plan to use it in the city like New Delhi, also mahindra or any third party vendor does not provide a good looking removable hard top as they have for wrangler jeeps in USA without which passenger will end up in inhaling dust and pollution...........its not a good option with out a fency removable hard top.

  • MAHINDRA THAR I likethis type of jeep

15 January 2011 By  KUKKU KHAN
  • Hi,price is too big,but atleast they can provide more mileage like tavera(20kms)bcse we r living in india,we r getting fuel from other countries, why the company left 12km for this jeep, otherwise they can adopt 2kms,what a mileage, this is pertol company + vehicle company = unbelievable PROFIT.this is the formula,if we r in gulf we can manage, but if the company's making this type of low-mileage vehicle the future generations will hate....

  • Let Mahindra call it Thar but let us call MM560.

  • I was very much enthusiastic to see the Thar and planned to purchase it. But very much disappointed to see the photographs on the blog. I don't see any difference in the traditional Mahindra Jeep that we already had MM 540 and this one. Now to be very precise the cost on-road 700000 is too much. Because if I purchase it then still I have to change the front two seats to the Jeep style bucket seats, close the back door and put a long comfortable seat in there. I am not OK with the hood style and the fabric used. I want alloy wheels. I want front bull bar like Mahindra Classic. If I spend some money on my low bonnet Willys then I will get the real value for money.

  • My friend (Hari), I agree with your views. But that doesn't mean we need to compromise on quality for the money we pay. A quality dashboard, music system and an option for AC doesn't do any harm as we do have to drive in the city once in a while than doing 24/7 off-roading.

Also you might want to check out the same Mahindra Thar which they launched in the Europe and South Africa. There is some difference in what we get in India for the price as mentioned by "Anaswar" here.

The world has moved on and we have much better jeeps in the international market and also better modified ones here in the Indian market.

  • Well I too agree to most of my friends who have posted their comments here on M&M Thar. Definitely under-equipped, down market product... suitable for govt vehicles such as police or other departments.. Nowadays even the politicians or dept heads do not drive in govt provided vehicles :)

Indian car manufactures need hire a better design team and also to do a better market study of what people are looking for than trying to push all the crappy vehicles in the market.

I was planning on buying Thar, but after seeing it.. i have changed my mind. Its definitely much better to buy an used Mahindra MM 350 or similar and modify it similar to Jeep Wrangler.

  • gypsy has 80 bhp and not 80kw as mentioned.

    03 January 2011 By  Vivek
  • THIS IS PARTIALITY! The International model of thar is really upmarket compared to the Indian version.M&M has made a great mistake by not providing the car with a stereo column.
The Indian thar has disappointed me!!

    03 January 2011 By  Anaswar
  • i was really interested in this vehicle ut mahindra has againdone the blunder people now want a suv with at least AC i mean it is a very downmarket product and shuld be only be for police people
come on mahindra grow up this is not US we need atleast AC

    03 January 2011 By  Ashishkajla
  • Not very impressed with the Thar, visited a showroom on a Sunday, which dint have a vehicle for test drive, what is the point on keeping the showroom open on a Sunday & not providing a test drive, saw lot of costumers disappointed.
Interior of the vehicle is bad,no music system,no alloy wheels,no A.C,Dash board is bad NANO has a better dashboard.
Indian costumer are very intelligent,They are charging 7.2 for the vehicle which is very highly priced even the basic things are not provided with the car, not even a bull bar.
    Totally disappointed.

  • Defenitly Youth will buy this no doubt but, will loose the money for sure, due to poor quality of interior facility, MM can compare with Wrangler jeep, I saw some pics of THAR last year which was for European Market, that was excellent !!!!( AS DISPLAYED IN PHOTO)
i think MM think that they can sell any bullshit to Indian market and they shall accept

    03 January 2011 By  JOSHU
  • @the people who seem to think that the thar is under-equipped... yes it doesn't have most of the features that we have grown accustomed to in our regular cars... but that is not the point of a jeep!! A jeep is supposed to be bare basic. As a jeeper myself i have to say I'm in love with the thar. It does not lose the down to earth nature of the jeep... yet gives you a modern engine and transmission package... which is all a jeeper requires! And I'm sure Mahindra is not trying to attract the masses... This is a niche vehicle for a niche audience!

    03 January 2011 By  Hari
  • ye jeep kharidna yani faltu paisa kharch karna. Aage wali seat jaisi hi seat pichhe honi chahiye. purani jeep kharid kar renovet karwana jyada achcha hai.

03 January 2011 By  Ramesh Prajapati
  • MM should modify the Thar interior to satisfy the current standard with full options with an AT as well. Also soft top as well as a hard top. Similar to Chrysler Wranger/Sahara etc. then this could be suited as off road for families as well.
    best regards
    thomas and elsa, bahrain.

  • PLEASE SEND ME SECOND HAND FOUR WHEELS

    03 January 2011 By  Srikanth
  • To be honest i am disappionted when i saw the pics of Thar.It doent have any attraction that a youth will go for it.Interior of the vehicle is horrible especially the dashboard . No delicacy ,an open air vehicle doent mean that no AC is required or no music system shuld be installed ,then its better to have a cart . I think they should address its weakness otherwise its going to be major flop for mahindra
