Mahindra Ingenio

Its time for you to sit up boys and take notice! The all new Mahindra Ingenio is all geared up to be launched in India in 2008. Mahindra is all set to compete with the growing segment of Toyota Innova with its new engine and a new platform as well. According to the Mangaing Director of Mahindra and Mahindra, Pawan Goenka, the company plans to launch their new diesel engine Ingenio late in 2008. The company has already invested Rs. 550 crores in the project and the prototype is however expected to be soon available in the market along with its latest pictures. You may expect both petrol and diesel versions of the car to be available in the market.

The Power Engine

The new Mahindra Ingenio will have aluminium 4 cylinder 2200cc CRDi Turbocharged engine running 4 valves per cylinder and able to produce 140Bhp. You may see the new state-of-art engine, Eagle, along with Renault petrol. The body chassis is expected to be of conventional type nevertheless, you may be able to witness the all-new monocoque platform that Mahindra is working on. The new MUV is expected to be equipped with all the latest technologies and latest interiors and styling as well.

The Styles

Mahindra plans to launch the InNgenio model with all the basic luxury, comfort and convenience that would let it compete with Innova in its market segment. You can see the air-conditioning but it would be without the climate control features. Other basic features of an SUV are also present like power windows, central locking, rear defogger, rear wiper, rear armrest, steering adjustment, rear AC vent and folding rear seats. However, you may feel the absence of leather seats, sun roof, buttons or controls on steering, tinted glass or remote boot in the basic model.

Exteriors are also cool and you may feel that the model is little shorter in height than Innova or its competitors. It has a seating capacity of eight people and expects to be a comfortable family car with cool looks. You can find body color bumpers, front disk and rear drum brakes, ORVM indicator, five manual gears, etc.

The normal active and passive safety features are usually missing like air bags, parking sensors, traction control etc. However, the basic model comes with fog lamp and three rear seat belts. Look for various models that might be available when the automobile is actually launched later in 2008. It is expected to be placed in the price band of Rs. 8 lac aimed toward C+ segment.

When the Drums Roll….

Mahindra plans to roll out its diesel hybrid late in 2008 and has already started its real world testing. Although Mahindra Scorpio already marks the presence of Mahindra in this segment, however, this car is not planned for any off-road adventures or typical SUV look-alike car. The company aims to launch a MUV that would be a big family car for everyday use. This car is all set to compete with its Japanese rival with its spacious interiors and sturdy exteriors. For all those who have always wanted a long family tip or an outing with folks and friends, this car is worth waiting for!
