Hyundai Verna Transform – A new Verna

Hyundai Verna is a well known and one of the most successful sedans of India. Recently Hyundai has launched the updated and upgraded version of the same, titled Verna Transform.

Today we take a look at the new Hyundai Verna Transform.

Exterior of Verna Transform

Changes in the Verna Transform start from the front Bumper. Curves have been induced in the bumper suiting the new design of headlights, which somehow resembles the eye of an eagle. The combination of Head light and Curvy design of bumper does seem to be the main ingredient of the facelift version.

Other than this, LED lights have been introduced in the rear view mirrors giving a feel of owning a luxury car. Finally, new fog lamps have been introduced though these fail to grab attention.

In the rear portion, black inserts have been introduced for the bumper. The chrome plating inserts to exhaust pipe, chrome garnish, and new tail lamps give a significant change with an impression of fresh looks.

Interiors of Verna Transform

The Verna Transform carries some changes in the interior also. Blue LED illuminated instrument cluster provides enhanced visibility of the cluster. A somewhat unique element in this vehicle lies in providing arm rest to driver seat. Though it’s simple, it adds to the comfort of driving the vehicle for long distances.

A well designed dash with nicely placed 2 DIN Audio system with remote, AC Knobs, a clock, etc. and brown frames used for center console, power window instrument cluster etc all provide a higher sense of luxury than the earlier variant.

Further, the beige interiors, spacious leg room, comfortable rear seats give a good impression. Only negative point is the brown frames used which makes it seems to hearken back to the past rather than going forward.

With dimensions unchanged, the Transform remains a spacious and comfortable sedan.

Hyundai Verna Transform Specifications

The Verna Transform is available in both petrol and diesel versions.

The Petrol version comes with a 4 cylinder, 1599cc engine delivering power of 103.2 PS, Torque of 146 NM, and 5 Speed manual gearbox.

The Diesel version comes with a 4 cylinder, 1493cc engine delivering output of 110 PS and torque of 235NM. It is available in 5 Speed Manual transmission and 4 speed Automatic transmission versions.

Verna is color options include Champagne Gold, Deep Ocean Blue, Blushing Red, Sleek silver, Stone Black, and Crystal White.

The Transform is available with Alloy wheel and steel wheel options. The rating of tyres is 175/70 R14 for steel wheel and 185/65R14 for Alloy wheel.

Drive of Hyundai Verna Transform

The most boosting factor for Verna is the power and drive quality. The car has an excellent pick up, tough suspension, and the overall vehicle dynamics favor ride and handling.

In the newer version, there are hardly any changes in engineering, including engine, suspension etc. and the ride quality is equivalent to the earlier one.

Comparison

Main competition for Verna in its segment comes from the Fiat Linea, Ford Fiesta, Maruti Suzuki SX4 and Honda City (for petrol version), Chevrolet Optra, etc. The segment is quite big and specific variants from expensive or cheaper models can also be selected competitors.

From comparison, it’s quite clear that Verna does not feature Airbags which otherwise available in most of its competitors. Hyundai bets on the build quality for this feature. Considering overall parameters, Verna can be considered as a competitive sedan in the segment.

Conclusion

Hyundai Verna is already having a strong share in the sedan segment of range of 8 to 10 lac. The updated version with lot of improvements in interiors and (more so) in exteriors boost the confidence of customers going for the same.
