The Fiat duo, Linea and Grande Punto, have both got makeovers recently. These were not full fledged makeovers, but minor tweaks that served to provide a refreshing look and feel to sustain interest in the flagship brand’s models.

Few weeks back, we reviewed the 2012 Grande Punto 1.4 Petrol Emotion variant. This time, we get our hands on the 1.4 Petrol Dynamic variant of the 2012 Fiat Linea. Both the engines have identical figures on paper.

Fiat cars have always enjoyed a fan following. Some also opine that after driving a Linea, one doesn’t gain the same enjoyment and satisfaction from other cars in the same segment.

We attempt to dive deep and certify this view, while also covering the 2012 changes Fiat has introduced in these models.

  • Seems like Fiat has carefully chosen variants for Linea , gone through the schemes sheet given by the dealer. Each variant has lot of interesting options.

  • Very poor servicing facilities. Depending on TAta Motors, is creating problems. The Linea that I have purchased in 2009, touches when passing over a speed breaker. I am not getting good service, from Tata Motors or Wasan Motors in Mumbai

  • As a maruti True Lover i never felt going for any other cars initially because of servicem & milage for nearly 20 years of my car driving. After having a test ride of my friend who recently brought Punto 1.3 diesel car I was literally STUNNED about overall quality of the car. I think maruti needs to go a long way to achieve this quality. Ride & BUILD quality is exceptional in FIAT. Its almost as sturdy as battle tank on the highways. I think i should have brought the PUNTO when it got launched itself. Maruti simply boost themselves with service, service......Take from me all these new cars come with less maintainence & morever the same 1.3 multijet diesel engines are with maruti, tata & even with other car manufacturers in India. Maruti lovers PLEASE take a ride on Fiat car. I dont know why TV channels car shows speak less about the Fiat cars. When i was watching CNBC carshow they are neglecting the fiat only because of its service. My friend had Fiat Petra (petrol variant) prior to his new punto. And he used to get 16kmpl on highway (driven within 100km / hr) with its heavy body weight & passenger + boot weight it is used to give 16 kmpl. Maruti's Swift Desire of Petrol variant on highways it does not give more than 17-18kms as the body weight is very less compared to Petra. In the end service centers are very less compared to maruti's. Hats off to FIAT Punto.
