General Motors has launched the next generation Chevrolet Sail 3 Sedan in the Chinese market. The vehicle is offered in a total of five variants and two engine options. The new Sail gets comprehensive makeover to both exteriors and interiors. Based on the new small architecture, the new model looks more appealing and spacious than the previous model.
The Sail 3 sedan is priced at 59,900 CNY (Rs. 6 lakhs) for entry-spec 1.3L unit and 73,900 CNY (Rs. 7.5 lakhs) for 1.5L unit. The new sedan gets Chevrolet’s new design language. On the exteriors, the vehicle gets new larger dual-port grille flanked by sweptback headlamps. The wheelbase has been increased by 35mm, which contributes to its spacious cabin. It is longer by 51mm and 45mm wider than the predecessor. The Sail 3 sedan comes with 366-litres of boot space, which is more than sufficient to accommodate 3-4 suitcases.
The 1.3-litre engine is capable of producing a top power output of 101bhp and a peak torque of 127Nm, whereas the 1.5-litre unit churns out a maximum power output of 111bhp and top torque of 141Nm. Power is transmitted to front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission gearbox. It is 3 per cent more fuel efficient than the previous model and is equipped with features such as Start-Stop button and new EPS (Electronic Power Steering).
