Mahindra & Mahindra, India's leading sports utility vehicle maker is planning to launch a range of SUVs in the country in the next couple of years. According to a report published on Autocar India, Mahindra is considering the Ssangyong Tivoli SUV for the Indian market. The company will pitch this project as a rival to Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and soon-to-be-launched Hyundai ix25.
The Ssangyong Tivoli compact SUV could derive its power from Mahindra's all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine, which is likely to make its debut with the Mahindra U301 Bolero. The European spec model is available with two engine options- a 1.6-litre petrol and a 1.6-litre diesel, which are paired to either a five-speed manual or automatic transmissions.
Dimensionally, the Ssangyong Tivoli compact SUV is 4,195mm in length, 1,795mm in width, 1,590mm in height and it comes with a large wheelbase of 2,600mm. It is equipped with a range of safety and security features including active roll protection, front and rear disc brakes, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), Hill Start Assist and many more. We believe that the Tivoli would cost around Rs. 8 lakh to Rs. 14 lakh in the Indian car market. For people not in the know, Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to launch a micro SUV and a compact SUV in the country this year.
