Overview of the Volkswagen Beetle

Volkswagen Group, the world’s third largest automobile manufacturer, launched its world famous luxurious small car “New Beetle” in India in December 2009. The car gained popularity very rapidly in India because of its unique looks and style. VW India has launched the car in a single variant in the country.

The New Beetle sports a 1984cc 4-cylinder petrol engine which generates a maximum power of 85Kw at 5400rpm and a peak torque of 172Nm at 3200rpm. The 6-speed automatic tiptronic transmission gearbox insures an uninterrupted and instant transfer of power from engine to road. 

The VW Beetle can cross the 100km/h mark in just 11.2 seconds with top speed of 180km/h.  The car offers an impressive mileage of 9km/l in city and 13km/l on highways and powerful engine gives the driver feel of a sports car while maintaining higher fuel efficiency at the same time.

The Beetle is well equipped with climate AC, rack & reach adjustable leather wrapped steering wheel, plastic gearshift knob, map pockets on seat backrest, reflectors on doors, electrically adjustable door mirrors, easy entry sliding seats with height adjustment, dust and pollen filter, heat insulating tinted glass, front electric windows with comfort operation and anti pinch, and illuminated vanity mirrors with cover & pocket.

The Beetle's audio system is well equipped with the “gamma” radio system with 6-speakers & 6-CD changer in the armrest.

Volkswagen imports its new Beetle in India from the Mexican plant of the company as a CBU (Completely Built unit) and that is why the car is available in comparatively higher Price of Rs 21 lacs and upwards (Ex-Showroom Delhi) in India. The price of the Beetle can vary dependent on the optional features opted for by the buyer.
