Rolls Royce Phantom Overview

The Phantom is a premium luxury car from the British car manufacturer Rolls Royce. Like other Rolls Royce cars, the Phantom is also a symbol of luxury. The company came up with the Rolls Royce Phantom launch in India in the year 2011. Counted among the largest manufacturers of luxury cars in the world, Rolls Royce delivered its best effort to create Phantom. The car comes with six-speed transmission, which helps it in delivering excellent performance. It is launched in four variants out of which the Drophead Coupé is superior. By launching this luxury car, the company targets the upper income group.

Rolls Royce Phantom Variants

The Rolls Royce Phantom is provided in three variants apart from the base variant. Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé, Royce Phantom Extended Wheelbase and Rolls Royce Phantom Coupé are the three variants of Rolls Royce Phantom. 

Rolls Royce Phantom

The Extended Wheelbase Version of the new Rolls Royce Phantom has similar engine configurations, but the difference lies in the exterior dimensions. The Phantom has an unladen weight of 2625 kg, whereas the Extended Wheelbase version of Phantom has a weight of 2745 kg. Both of these versions also differ in terms of gross weight. The Phantom has a gross weight of 3050 kg, while the Extended Wheelbase Phantom has a gross weight of 3170 kg.

The Rolls Royce Phantom has a body length, height and wheelbase of 5840 mm, 1638 mm and 3570 mm respectively. On the other hand, the Extended Wheelbase version of Rolls Royce Phantom has a body length of 6090 mm, while the height and wheelbase are of 1640 mm and 3820 mm respectively. 

Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé

The all new Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé is the roadster version of the Phantom series of Rolls Royce in India. This variant is having the same engine configuration like the base model.

It differs from the other variants basically in terms of exterior dimensions. The Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé has a body length of 5609 mm and a height of 1581 mm. Other dimensions of the car such as the width and wheel base are kept same as of the other variants. Unlike the Rolls Royce Phantom, the Drophead Coupé is a 2 door and 4 seater car.

The third variant, the Rolls Royce Phantom Coupé is also a 2 door, 4 seater car like the Drophead Coupé. It differs to the other variants in terms of exterior dimensions. The overall body length of this variant is 5612 mm and the maximum height is 1598 mm. Phantom Coupé also differs from the other two variants in terms of acceleration.

Rolls Royce Phantom price is on higher side, which makes it a car of the upper income group. The standard model of Rolls Royce Phantom is available with a price tag of Rs. 3.5 crores. However, the Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé and Phantom Coupé are available with a price tag of Rs. 4.2 crores and Rs. 4 crores respectively.

Phantom uses a direct injection fuel management system which makes the engine very efficient. In order to allow easy switching of gears, the company has kept ZF 6HP32 automatic transmission in the Rolls Royce Phantom. For proper braking assistance, the Rolls Royce Phantom consists of ventilated discs at both the front and rear side of the car.

The all new Rolls Royce Phantom 2011 runs on a V-petrol engine which also contributes towards the mileage and fuel economy. Owing to its availability in only petrol engine, the Phantom proves expensive on road.

The variants of the Rolls Royce Phantom deliver a mileage of 4.3 kmpl on the city roads and a mileage of 8.8 kmpl on the highways. The overall mileage of this petrol powered luxury car is 6.3 kmpl.
