Nissan X-Trail

Nissan X-Trail is a compact luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) that was launched in the Indian market in year 2004 as the first portfolio model of Japanese auto giant Nissan. The X-Trail is a complete off-roader and comes blessed with a number of special off-road capabilities. The Nissan X-Trail is currently imported in India through CBU (completely built unit) route and attracts a heavy import duty.

The company had recently launched a face-lifted version of X-Trail in India, carrying a number of cosmetic as well as technological changes. The new generation version of Nissan X-Trail carries a 20GT Clean Diesel 6-speed automatic transmission, and comes powered by a 2.0L diesel engine that can deliver a peak power of 149.6 hp. .

The X-Trail has been offered in the price segment of Rs 21-25 Lacs (Delhi Ex-showroom), where it is competing with some of the most popular cars of this segment such as Toyota Fortuner, Honda CR-V, Ford Endeavour, Chevrolet Captiva, Mitsubishi Outlander and the recently launched BMW X1. The company currently sells this vehicle in a large number of foreign markets such as Japan, Europe, Canada, Mexico and Australia.

As mentioned above, the Nissan X-Trail comes powered by a 2.0L, 4-cylinder, In-line, DOHC, diesel engine that is capable of delivering a peak power of 149.6 hp at 4000rpm and a maximum torque of 320 Nm at 2000 rpm. The power-packed engine of the X-Trail uses a Common rail direct injection fuel system and carries a engine displacement of 1995CC.

The exterior dimensions of the X-Trail model are as follows – height- 1685mm; length- 4630mm; width- 1785mm; wheelbase- 2630mm. Minimum ground clearance of the vehicle is 200mm.

Performance of the Nissan X-Trail

Being a luxury off-roader, the Nissan X-Trail model comes equipped with a number of performance boosting features and technologies such as sophisticated ALL MODE 4X4-i, all wheel drive system that incorporates a ESP (Electronic stability program), Yaw Moment Control for enabling steady and smooth cornering on slippery surfaces, Stable downhill control that limits downhill speed to 7 km/h, a hill start assist and Brake LSD (Limited Slip Differential) for enhancing driver’s control on vehicle. Blessed with a sublime pick-up, the X-Trail model takes just over 10 seconds to break the speed barrier of 100 km/h and reaches a top speed of 180 km/hr.
