The Nissan Teana model was launched in the Indian market as the second portfolio car of Nissan India in year 2007. Teana is a luxury segment sedan that is available in two petrol versions sporting 2496cc VQ25DE V6 petrol engine. The current model of Teana is the second generation of this car that was first unveiled at the 2008 Beijing Auto Show. Nissan has used its D platform for the manufacturing of this car that has already been used for the development of Nissan Maxima and Nissan Altima. The Nissan currently competes with the likes of Skoda Superb and Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Volkswagen Passat, etc.

Though Teana has been considerably successful in many foreign markets, its sales in India have been moderate since its launch. The car is currently imported as a completely built unit (CBU) in India from the company’s base market Japan and attracts an excise duty of about 110 percent. However, it has been speculated that the company would start assembling the Teana sedan in the Indian market by the second quarter of year 2011, in a bid to cut-down the applicable excise duty and offer the car at a lower price. At present, the car is available in the price range of Rs 21,03,000 - Rs 25,40,000 (ex-showroom new Delhi).

Engine & Specifications of Nissan Teana

The Teana sedan comes blessed with a 2496cc VQ25DE V6 petrol engine that has been included in the list of “Ten Best Engines” by Ward’s Auto World magazine for consecutive 15 years. The Teana engine is capable of producing a peak power of 179.5 bhp at 6000 rpm with a torque of 228 Nm at 4400 rpm. To handle this massive power a sophisticated XTRONIC CV (Continuously Variable) Transmission has been used that offers spontaneous use of power whenever required.

The use of an advanced ECCS Electronic Fuel Injection Control in Teana sedan ensures optimal power generation in the engine and reduces the overall fuel consumption, as a result. The car has been appreciated for its lightning streak pick-up all over the world. In a bid to offer a superior stability to the car at any kind of terrain, a ball-joint type suspension has been provided at the front along with a multi-link type suspension at the rear. The Teana sedan takes mere 10.8 seconds to break the speed barriers of 100 km/hr.
