Engine & Specifications of the Mercedes S-Class
The Mercedes Benz S-Class model is available in two petrol and a single diesel version in the Indian market. The lesser powered petrol version – S Class 350L – of the car comes equipped with a 3498 cc V6 engine that is capable of delivering a peak power of 272 KW at 6300RPM along with a massive 350Nm of torque at 4500 RPM. The
second petrol variant is S-Class 500L that comes powered by a 5461cc V8 engine and delivers a peak power of 271 KW at 6300RPM with peak torque of 505NM at 2800-4400RPM.
On the other hand, the diesel version of S-Class carries a 2987 cc V6 engine that delivers top power of 210BHP at 4000 RPM with a top torque of 490 Nm at 1600 - 1800 rpm. All
three variants of the car come powered by same seven speed automatic transmission gearbox.
Performance of the Mercedes S-Class
The superior performance of the Mercedes Benz S-Class model is its critical selling point. The car carries sublime acceleration & pick-up characteristics along with a segment leading fuel economy.
Where the 3.5L petrol version of the car takes just 7.2 seconds to break the speed barrier of 100 km/hr, the bigger 5.5L petrol version takes just 5.6 seconds to achieve the task. On the other hand, the diesel version of the car takes just 5.4 seconds to cross the speed of 100 km/hr. The mileage of 3.5L petrol, 5.5L petrol and 3.0L diesel version are 13.5, 9.4 and 9.7 kmpl respectively
