The Maruti Ritz is a compact hatchback which was launched in the Indian market in year 2009. With futuristic looks, unconventional design and fascinating road-presence, the Ritz model was launched in the Indian market to attract new age buyers.

The Maruti Ritz has been offered in both petrol and diesel variants powered by a 1.2L petrol and 1.3L diesel engine. The car is available in five variants including 2 diesel and three petrol ones. The car is available in the price segment of sub Rs 5 lakh where it is competing with the likes of Chevrolet Beat, Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo, Fiat Punto, Hyundai i10 and Nissan Micra.

In August 2010, Maruti rolled-out a special edition of the Ritz model – Maruti Ritz Genus – to mark the first anniversary of the car in the Indian market. The special edition was offered in both diesel and petrol version. However, despite being promoted and hyped a lot in the Indian market, the car has failed to repeat the success of its sibling Maruti Swift.

Engine & Specifications of the Maruti Ritz

The Ritz model has been offered in both petrol and diesel versions. The petrol version of the car is powered by a 1.2 L, 1197 cc K -12 engine which is capable of generating a peak power of 85 PS at 6000 rpm along with a peak torque of 113 Nm at 4500 rpm.

On the other hand, the diesel version of the Ritz is powered by a 1.3L, 1248 cc DDiS engine that delivers a peak power of 75 PS at 4000 rpm along with a peak torque of 190 Nm at 2000 rpm. Both petrol and diesel versions of the Ritz carry a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox.

Performance of the Maruti Ritz

The Maruti Ritz is one of the best performing compact hatchbacks in the Indian market. The petrol version of the car takes just 14.71 seconds to cross the speed mark of 100 kmph and reaches a top speed of 156 kmph. On the other hand the diesel Maruti Ritz takes 15.43 seconds to achieve the same, with a top speed of 163 kmph. Both petrol and diesel versions of the car deliver a considerably high fuel economy of 14 to 19 kmpl and 16 to 21 kmpl, respectively.

Exterior, Interior & Safety Features in the Maruti Ritz

Carrying an unconventional design, the road presence of Ritz is a highly fascinating one that gives an energetic and sporty look. The exterior of the Ritz are blessed with body graphics with aerodynamic efficiency, a uniquely designed rear profile, alloy wheels and internally adjustable OVRMs.

The interiors of the Ritz have been made dynamic with a spacious cabin, fabric upholstery, tachometer, info display clock and temperature, digital displayed trip meter and a high quality of materials. The option of 60: 40 folding rear seats offer a greater convenience.

The major safety features in the Maruti Ritz include Dual front SRS Airbag, ABS (Anti lock Braking System) with EBD, The Intelligent Computerized Anti Theft System (Immobilizer iCATS) etc.
