Maruti Suzuki, the people’s car maker of India, has always been at the top position in the country with its elegant, affordable and comfortable cars. The company has to continuously upgrade its products and bring new ones in the market to tackle the nail biting competition. In this process, Maruti has come up with the Maruti A-Star. The Maruti A-Star was unveiled in the Indian auto market in the fourth quarter of 2008 and Maruti has left no stone unturned to make the A-Star a true star with its iconic design, which is made to look like European cars along with comfortable and spacious interiors.

The all new A-star is one of the most stylish cars to have come from Maruti’s stable till date.  Surprisingly, the A-Star has been manufactured mainly through used products from the various other car and the A-Star is thus described as an 'end of the life vehicle' (ELV) by Maruti and is also company's first environment friendly car.

The jaw-dropping exterior of the Maruti A-Star, which gives a feel of western cars, along with its powerful engine and decent interiors has made the hatchback competition tough for others in India. Maruti’s sole competitor in this segment is probably the Hyundai i10, given the A-Star's pricing at 3.57 lakh to 4.57lakh (Ex-showroom).

                                                                                                                 

Engine & specifications of the Maruti A-Star

The Maruti A-Star has a powerful drive, as it is packed with KB series engine which also fulfills the criteria of new emission norms in country (BS IV). The A-Star's 998cc, 3cylinder, 12 valve engine offers maximum power of 67 Ps at 6200 rpm along with a thumping torque of 90 NM at the rate of 3500 rpm. The all new KB series engine is integrated with 5 speed manual transmission while 4 speed automatic transmission is available only in LXi variant.

The A-Star deliver a mileage 18.9 kmpl on highway and 14.6 kmpl in the city.

The all new Maruti A-Star shows excellent craftsmanship from Indian engineers who have built an Indian car with European standards. The elegant hatchback has got amazing looks with sweeping nose on the hood, stunning frog eye-shaped extended headlamps and beautiful front fog lamps. The A-Star is bestowed with enchanting looks, credit of which goes to body coloured rear view mirrors, bumpers and door handles. Full wheel covers are stunning and give the A-Star deserving International design.

Interiors of the A-Star

The all new A-Star has got a flawless and refreshing interior which is a complement to its outstanding exterior. Everything is neatly appointed right from the elegantly designed dashboard to the extremely comfortable seats. Other important features include tachometer (only in ZXi variant), audio system, AC controls, parking light, cigarette lighter, stylish AC vents at both ends and many more. Maruti A-Star is five-door hatchback with adjustable driver seat height and door ajar warning light.

The Maruti A-star comes loaded with standard safety features like ABS, EBD, dual airbags, security system, force limiters, RR CTR seat belts etc.
