Overall Evaluation of the Mahindra Xylo

The Mahindra Xylo is the latest Multi utility vehicle in Mahindra’s India portfolio and was rolled-out in the Indian market in 2009. The Mahindra Xylo is a classy high end vehicle that accentuates sporty looks. The vehicle becomes even more dynamic with the addition of new age features, enhancing the comfort and safety level of the passengers. Promoting the vehicle with a unique punch line – “Happy Legs” – the company has kept the comfort of passengers as its top priority.

Mahindra Xylo is available in two engine options including the 2498cc mEagle CRDe diesel engine that comes blessed with CRDI (Common Rail Direct Injection) fuel supply system, offering a smooth flow of oil and fuel and ensuring a good performance onthe road.

The Mahindra Xylo model is available in the price bracket of Rs7,00,600 - Rs 9,24,111 (Delhi Ex-showroom) where it competes with other MUVs available in the Indian market, including the Toyota Innova. The Mahindra Xylo is available in four base variants in the country including both BS-III compliant and BS-IV compliant engines.

Engine & Specifications of the Mahindra Xylo

As mentioned above, the Mahindra Xylo is available in two types of engine. The first one is the mEagle CRDe diesel engine that comes powered with a 2498cc, 4 Cylinders engine along with a 5 Speed Manual Transmission. It generates a maximum power of 112 bhp at 3800rpm along with 260Nm of maximum torque at 1800-2200rpm .The in-line engine of the car comes packed with the Common Rail Direct Injection fuel supply system that not only offers a free flow of oil but also ensures smooth running of the engine.

On the other hand, the Xylo's second engine option is a 2489cc in-line, mDI CRDediesel engine that incorporates a 5 Speed Manual Gearbox. The high powered engine generates a peak Power of 95 bhp @ 3600rpm along with maximum torque of 220Nm @ 1400- 2600 rpm.

Both engines of the car offer the Xylo a mileage in the range of 10 to 14 kmpl.

Performance of the Mahindra Xylo

The Mahindra Xylo is a new generation crossover thatcomes blessed with a range of performance enhancing features includingthe common rail direct injection fuel supply system that gives the Xylo a superior performance. The Xylo model carries an Independent coil spring suspension at the front with multi link coil spring at the rear.

Inside, the Mahindra Xylo comes blessed with a range of comfort and convenience features that comprises of adjustable Steering wheel, surround cooldual AC, front cup holders and the storage compartments in front doors, and many more.

On the safety front too, the Xylo model comes blessed with a range of active and passive safety features including ABS (Anti Lock Braking System), Engine Immobilizer, crumple zones, Front headrest, 3 rear headrest and Powerful fog lamps.
