Lamborghini Murcielago is a two door sports car produced by Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A., the Italian automotive giant. Production of this vehicle was started in 2001 and lasted till 2010. It was the successor of Diablo and considered the flagship of this automaker's line-up until discontinuation. The company stopped developing the Murcielago on November 5, 2010 after producing a total of 4099 cars. The successor of this vehicle was Lamborghini Aventador, which was released at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

Lamborghini Murcielago Launch History 

The historic tradition of naming Lamborghini's cars after stars from the world of bullfighting continues with this vehicle. Murcielago is named after a fighting bull that survived twenty eight sword strokes in 1879. The name Murcielago is the term for bat in the Spanish language.  

Lamborghini Murcielago LP 640 was launched in March 2006 at Geneva Motor Show. The alphanumeric name of the car indicates the engine's orientation as well as its newly upgraded power input. Displacement of the car was increased to 6500 cc in this car as compared to earlier models developed by Lamborghini. Lamborghini Murcielago Super Veloce was unveiled at Geneva Motor Show in 2009. The car maker revised the valve timing and upgraded the intake system in the Murcielago Super Veloce in order to increase the efficiency of the car. Weight of the vehicle was also reduced to 100 kg, with extensive usage of carbon fibre inside as well as outside.
