Hyundai Sonata Transform

The second largest automobile manufacturer of the nation, Hyundai Motors India Ltd., is geared-up to make its impression in the international luxury car segment with its all new Hyundai Sonata Transform. Launched in the beginning of the year 2009, the Sonata Transform is the all-new enhanced version of the Sonata Embera from Hyundai Motors.

The Hyundai Sonata Transform hosts numerous new aspects and upgrades in terms of appearance, comfort, and accessibility as compared to the predecessor Sonata Embera. Some exterior stand out points in the Sonata are the all new designed alloy wheels, an enlarged chrome radiator grille, wider front bumper and air-dam along with larger headlamps. The interior of the Sonata is unique, and is provided with dual-tone interiors, high quality materials like chrome and wood inserts which boost appearance and durability. Pitted against Volkswagen Jetta and Skoda Laura, the Sonata Transform is a signature car from Hyundai.

The Sonata's impulsive style, power-packed performance, and exquisite interiors, make it a must buy for the luxury car seekers. Overall the Sonata fits every definition of luxury and class, and it has evolved from what it was; it’s now Transform-ed!

The price of the Hyundai Sonata ranges between INR 14.5 and 17 lacs.

Engine & Specification of the Hyundai Sonata

The Sonata Transform is available in both diesel and petrol versions - it comes with a 2.4 VTVT (Petrol) and 2.0 CRDi (Diesel). The petrol version is powered by a 2.4-litre MPFI engine that produces 173ps at 6000rpm and peak torque of 24kgm at 4000rpm. The Sonata diesel variant comes with a 2.0-litre CRDi engine, which delivers a power of 150ps at 3850rpm and top-most torque of 32kgm at 2000rpm.

The Sonata Transform offers improved fuel efficiency; it provides an overall mileage of around 11-14kmpl on the highway while within the city the mileage is around 9-11kmpl, for both the variants.

Exteriors of the Hyundai Sonata

In the exterior part, the first noteworthy change is the larger radiator grille which is ornamented with chrome bars. Larger and more elegant headlamps with automatic off switch, chrome-tipped dual exhausts, and all-new-design 5-spoke alloy wheels are other latest additions. The renewed dual exhausts and wheels make the Sonata Transform look sportier. Door mirrors are electrically adjustable and come with heating elements to keep them mist free. The design of the Sonata is aerodynamically framed to provide extra speed to the vehicle with a smooth and comfortable ride.

Interiors of the Hyundai Sonata

Now comes the interior beauty of the Sonata Transform: very urbane dual-tone shades of beige & grey, wood-grain dashboard and chrome inlays. In comparison to the Sonata Embera, the Transform gets an all-new and impressive centre console. Steering wheel is wrapped in luxurious leather and has tilt/telescopic function. The blue LED illuminated dashboard and padded door panels add a fresh look. Moreover the driver’s seat is 8-way power adjustable for stress-free driving. Unlike the Embera, the Transform does not offer cloth seating. Leather upholstery is standard on all variants.

Safety Features in the Sonata

Safety is kept on priority by Hyundai; the Sonata car comes with electronically-controlled ABS with electronic brake-force distribution, dual front airbags with passenger airbag off switch, impact sensing door unlock, and central door locking.
