The Honda Civic is a premium range sedan that was launched in the Indian market in year 2006. The car is now available in three variants in the country including Honda Civic SMT, Honda Civic VMT and Honda Civic VAT. All of these variants come powered by a 1.8L i-VTEC PGM-Fi petrol engine that delivers a peak power of 132 Ps. Honda has further recently launched a new Honda Civic with sunroof. The addition of sunroof offers a panoramic effect the inside passengers and makes the car appear larger and brighter. To further enhance the uniqueness of this new variant, the company has provided the car in an exciting Urban Titanium color.

The Honda Civic is available in the price bracket of Rs 12,83,400 to Rs 15,19,400 (Delhi ex-showroom), where it is competing with the likes of Toyota Corolla Altis, Chevrolet Cruze, Skoda Laura, Volkswagen Jetta and upcoming Maruti Kizashi. Moreover, a diesel version of the car is expected to be launched in the Indian market by the end of year 2011.

Engine & Specifications of Honda Civic

The new generation Honda Civic comes powered by a 1.8L, 1799cc, 4-cylinder, i-VTEC petrol engine that is capable to churn-out a peak power of 132 Ps at 6300 rpm along with a top torque of 17.5 kgm at 4300 rpm. The car comes mated with a five speed manual and an optional five speed automatic transmission that carries paddle

shift system. The i-VTEC technology of the new Civic works in tandem with engine at high speed, controlling air-fuel intake valves and exhaust valves.

The Honda Civic is a powerful performer on the roads. Blessed with superior pick-up and acceleration characteristics, the new Civic takes just 9.4 seconds to break the speed barrier of 100 kmph. Moreover, the sophisticated i-VTEC technology of the new Civic ensures higher fuel efficiency with zippier acceleration. The addition

of Drive by wire technology and Throttle System makes sure that the Honda Civic keeps exhilarating even after the drive is over. The throttle valve in the car has been controlled with computer assistance via electric signals in place of conventional mechanical cables. Mileage of the car falls in the range of 10 kmpl to 15 kmpl.

Exterior, Interior & Safety of Honda Civic

The Civic model looks aggressive and sporty from the front side thanks to its smoky headlights and metallic front grille with centrally positioned Honda logo. The stylish body colored electrically retractable ORVMs come integrated with integrating turn indicators. From inside, the car is fascinating and looks quite spacious. The major attractions of the Civics’ interiors include blue lit digital speedometer, digital odometer, centrally placed audio system and AC controls, map light, driver side power window illumination switch and high mount stop lamp.
