The sporty hatchback Chevrolet Aveo U-Va was introduced in the Indian market in December 2006 as a new age compact car with incredible space inside. The U-Va has been designed while taking into consideration the needs and requirements of Indian buyers. Same as the Aveo sedan, the Aveo U-Va has been designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at his much celebrated Italian design studio – Italdesign.

Carrying a highly advanced and refined 1.2L petrol engine at its heart, the Aveo U-VA offers class leading mileage and sublime drivability. The engine management system and gear ratio of the car have been recalibrated in order to make it compatible to the fuel, road conditions and driving habits in the country. Engine & Specifications of Chevrolet Aveo U-Va

Powered by a 1.2L SOHC engine, the Aveo U-Va model is capable of churning-out a peak power of 76 PS @ 5500 rpm along with a top torque of 110 Nm @ 4400 rpm. The five speed manual transmission gearbox is standard in all variants of U-Va. In order to offer a perfect combination of fuel economy and performance, a Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection System has been mated to the engine of this car.

Blessed with sporty and futuristic designing cues of Italdesign Studio, the Aveo U-Va causes an eye-arresting effect on by passers. The combination of Jeweled-element headlamps and a diamond mesh insert offers an amazing front view. The use of a chrome centre bar in the strong horizontal grille generates a fascinating expressiveness. In addition to this, the amalgamation of its long wheelbase with short overhangs, prominently featured lines and expressive wheel arches offers a superb side view to the car.

On the interior front, the Aveo U-Va’s long wheel base has made it possible to offer a soothing spaciousness inside the car. The use of circular motifs at doors trims and instrumental penal highlights the youthful and fun-oriented approach inside. The use of a light beige color scheme in the interior enhances the spacious look of the car even more.

On the safety front, the U-Va model carries an exceptionally high torsional rigidity and crash stability, thanks to the use of over 46 percent high-strength and extra-high-strength steel. With this, the unique tailor-welded blanks have been offered in the monocoque chassis for the additional safety of car body structure.The new generation safety features like Antilock Braking System (ABS), 2.5 mph impact-proof bumpers at both front and rear sides and torsion-resistant body are also available in the car. 

Performance of the Aveo U-Va

The pick-up of the car is commendable as it takes mere 15.8 seconds to cross the speed barrier of 100 km/h and can touch a top speed of 152 km/h. However, the mileage of Aveo U-Va falls a bit lesser as compared to the same of its rivals like Maruti Swift and Ford Figo. Its mileage ranges from 11.9 km/l to 14.7 km/l.

The U-Va is available in four variants, priced in the range of around Rs 4.3 lacs to Rs 5,3 Lacs (Delhi ex-showroom).
