Overview of the BMW X6

BMW launched its first Sports Activity Coupe BMW X6 in India in Delhi Auto Expo-2010. With this car, BMW has defined a totally new concept by bringing together the performance, quickness and sporty design of a big BMW coupe with raised seating position and versatility of a Sports Utility Vehicle. The car is available in three variants Drive50i (petrol), xDrive30d (diesel) and X6 M (petrol) in India

                                                                                                                 
Engine of the BMW X6

BMW X6’s variant xDrive50i is coming with the all new 4395 cc Twin-Turbo V8 petrol engine coupled with High Precision Injection to provide higher performance and lower fuel consumption. It’s an 8 cylinder 4 valve engine which generates a maximum power of 300Kw (407Hp) at 5500-6400rpm and a peak torque of 600Nm at 1750-4500rpm.

On the other hand, the diesel version of the BMW X6 sports a 2993cc, 6 cylinder V-shape engine that offers a peak power of 235 hp at 4,000 rpm along with a peak torque of churns 520 Nm 2,000 to 2,750 rpm. The latest among X6 variants is the X6M that comes loaded with a 4.4 litre Twin-Power Turbo engine, delivering a maximum power at 6,000 rpm and a top torque of 680 Nm at 1,500 to 5,650 rpm.

Performance of the BMW X6

The BMW xDrive50i X6 can touch the 100 km/h mark in just 5.4 seconds with top speed of 250 km/h and gives stiff competition to any other car in its class. Car’s average fuel consumption is 8km/l. These figures speak in volume about the efficiency and power of the engine. The 3.0L and 4.4L engines of the BMW X6 take 8.4 seconds and 4.7 seconds respectively, to break the speed barrier of 100 km/hr.

BMW X6 is a significant addition to BMW X family. All the typical characteristics of BMW X series are visible in its front and rear view. BMW X6 has an elegant side view with the horizontal lines and prominent wheel arches. Its body colored door handles and rear view mirrors which are black in lower segment, tinted and  electronically adjustable, give the car a stylish and sporty look.

The BMW X6 has eye catching 19-inch star spoke alloy wheels to give its sporty look a perfect touch. The car has kidney grille with black slats and chrome surround for a perfect finish. Apart from these features a buyer has option of Metallic paintwork, Roof railing in black, matt or silver, satin chrome and High gloss to give the car a personal touch.

BMW X6 interiors are in line of BMW’s tradition of making interior salutations of highest standards with wide range of high quality combinations. If we talk about interior trims, while the X6 xDrive50i is decorated with Fine-wood trim Variegated Ash, other variants come in graphite matt.

The BMW X6 is a 4-seater with two rear seats in a sporty single seat design with integrated headrests.  Its three spoke, multifunction steering wheel which is covered with sports leather with an adjustable steering column (manual, horizontal and vertical) give the driver comfort and option to personalize steering according to the individual needs.

The X6 is equipped with cup holders for front & rear, start/stop button, tailgate, one piece, with stopover function with optional comfort access system, panoramic glass view and storage package.

Safety Features of the BMW X6

BMW X6 has a very effective safety framework consisting of seat belts, airbags and steering systems. Car is equipped with 8 air bags, Disk brakes, Central locking with electronic immobilizer, crash sensor, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) inclusive of ABS, CBC and traction  control (DTC) with additional functions, Hill Descent Control (HDC), Rollover Sensor and Door integrated side impact protection. With these many safety features all the occupants of the BMW X6 are assured of instant protection and almost foolproof protection at the time of any untoward incident.

Price of the BMW X6

BMW X6 is for sale in the price band of Rs. 62,90,000 to Rs. 82,90,000. The actual price is dependent on the variant and optional features chosen by customer (Prices are Ex-Showroom Delhi).
