Volkswagen Rocktan

Volkswagen, a German automotive manufacturer, is an original and best-selling marque of the Volkswagen Group. With its entry in the Indian market, Volkswagen launched many cars in the country. Following its future plans, the company is looking forward to launch its crossover sports multi-utility vehicle, the Volkswagen Rocktan, in the Indian market.

The Volkswagen Rocktan is expected to be launched in the Indian market by the end of 2012. As per company plans, the upcoming car is speculated to be launched in both the diesel as well as petrol version. Based on Suzuki SX4, this car is a result of collaboration between Volkswagen and Maruti Suzuki India limited (MSIL).

Being a Volkswagen model, the Rocktan would have the advantage of German technology, which assures effective performance on the roads. Once launched, this upcoming Volkswagen car is likely to give a tough competition to other cars in this segment, such as Toyota Urban Cruiser and upcoming Nissan Juke.

Engines & Specifications of Volkswagen Rocktan

The upcoming Volkswagen Rocktan is expected to be available in both the petrol as well as diesel trims. The petrol variant would be powered with a 1.4 L TSI petrol engine. On the other hand, the diesel variant of this crossover segment would be powered with a 1.6 L or a 1.2 L TDI diesel engine.

The power generation of both the variants is expected to be same. According to Volkswagen, the Rocktan would be producing a power output of 434 hp at 5900 rpm. The torque generation capacity of the vehicle would be 424 Nm at 4600 rpm. The Rocktan is expected to have 6 speed manual transmission and optional 6 speed automatic gearbox.

Exterior, Interior & Safety Features of Volkswagen Rocktan

According to the media reports, the Volkswagen Rocktan front will be similar to that of the Maruti Alto. However, the company has given it smarter looks that are better than the Alto. Thick black line on the bonnet with the company's emblem on it looks impressive. Apart from this, the grille in the front is smartly designed which also provides easy air intake for the engine. Headlamps and rear lamps looks unique and contributes to the overall look of the car.

Regarding the interiors, this five-seater crossover looks spacious from the inside and has ample legroom for the passengers. The car is expected to be available with various comfort features, such as air-conditioning, split folding rear seat, front power window, adjustable driver seat, electronic adjustable ORVMs, front armrest and cup holders.

It is expected that the car would be facilitated with advance safety features, such as speed traction control, daytime running lights, driver and passenger air-bags and automatic crash response. Apart from these, the Rocktan would be accompanied with fog lamps, theft-deterrent system, power door locks, anti-lock braking system and key-less access.
