Volkswagen Passat Overview
The Volkswagen Passat is a premium range sedan which has been appreciated throughout the world for its fascinating looks and superior performance. The German auto giant rolled-out a new age version of this car - Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion TDI – in the Indian market in March 2011. The new Passat model comes powered by a 2.0 liter diesel engine which is capable of delivering a peak power of 170 bhp along with a peak torque of 350 Nm. The new age Passat has higher fuel efficiency and a considerably low emission level. The BlueMotion Passat further comes blessed with fuel saving features like longer gear ratios, reduced engine idle speed and Start-stop technology.
Earlier, Volkswagen India had discontinued the diesel version of the car - Passat Highline DSG – which was then replaced by a new TSI petrol engine.
The new Passat also carries all-new head lights, tail lights, bumpers, fog lamps, front grille, new shade for leather upholstery, and newly designed instrument cluster. The new Passat is claimed to be the most fuel efficient car in its segment with a mileage around 15 KMPL.
The Volkswagen Passat is available in the price bracket of Rs 20.18 lakhs to Rs 25.65 lakhs, where it is competing with the likes of Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Maruti Kizashi, etc. The Passat is currently available in three variants including Trendline, Comfortline and Highline.

Engine & Specifications of the Volkswagen Passat
As mentioned above, the new Passat model comes blessed with 2.0 litre, TDi BlueMotion engine which is capable of generating a massive peak power of 170 Bhp along with a peak torque of 350 Nm. The powerful engine of the Passat offers a torque 350 Nm, since it has been optimized for longer ratios.
Performance of the Volkswagen Passat
The new age BlueMotion technologies of the new Passat not only offers an experience of sheer luxury but it also provides an eco-friendly and efficient approach to mobility. The new technology decreases the carbon emission to a very low level. Moreover, both manual and DSG transmissions of the car have been optimized for longer ratios, early upshifts and delayed downshifts, enhancing the energy efficiency of the car. The new Passat is blessed with Auto start-stop technology that turns the engine off automatically whenever you are in a traffic jam or at a red light. In addition to this, the new Brake energy recuperation technology recharges the battery every time you apply brakes on the car.
