Tata Dolphin

Tata Motors is planning to fill the gap between Tata Nano priced at Rs. 1.5 lakh and Tata Indica starting at Rs. 2.8 lakh. This will be the next 800cc model from Tata Motors expected to be branded as Tata Dolphin. Tata Motors’ had felt a need to fill the space in its product portfolio with a car that will compete with models like Maruti Alto and Hyundai Santro.

The model will come in petrol as well diesel options and is expected to hit the markets by 2012. The expected price of Tata Dolphin is Rs. 2.25 lakh which will be little above Tata Nano.

There is a growing demand for small cars like that Tata Dolphin from rural and semi-urban areas of India where strong robust and durable brands are in vogue. Tata and Maruti are strong contenders of these rural and semi-urban markets. These markets account for nearly 50 percent of total sales in India and here is where Tata Motors want seriously to place a Maruti Alto rival, i.e. the Tata Dolphin.

  • I support the comment given by raja. At the same time i also emphasise that TATA is commited to the improvement of The Standard of Living Of People. It is due to the Negligence at the dealer / Technician level the company is loosing their valuble name. As said by raja mistakes are very phenonminoal , but acceptance is the first step of change towards acheiving Perfection. I strongly recommend / request the higher level of management i to intervein in to this and improve the services to wards not only customer satisfaction but also attracting / recommending new customers on the performarmance basis -- which is infact a Zero cost advertisement.

As far as Dolphin is considerd TATA had alredy made a too much delay and there by they lost a huge segment of customers where MARUTI & Hundai had suceesceded . Even now eliminating furthur delay and improving after sales customer service & Satisfaction will fetch them in the long run. -- Srinivas

  • In one word TATA IS THE BEST. with more models and improved R&D.For a successful company or a person there must be improvement. That is why tata is doing. Maruthi with one model Swift with less features and more price they are successful for some years .But tata with more variety ,more features and prices according to our budget it will suit. After TATA Nano Diesel launch all rickhwall will get TATA Nano diesel.

  • do you think electric car is not polluting? in reality it is not! they pollute air more than a petrol/diesel car!! from where this electricity is made? its from thermal powerstations that emit carbon dioxide and other oxides. considering the loss in charging discharging and froctional loss the effective pollution will be higher than a petrol or diesel car...
    thanx

  • Dimple madam, I agree tha Maruti Suzuki is dominating this segment. Time has changed now. There are other players as well who are entering in the same segment (like Hyundai with Eon, Honda Brio etc)

  • I am proud that one of India base company has progressed to such a height. But at the same time, Tata's needs to grow globally not only in production but also in sale & mainly in after sales service & real care of customer which is lagging to large extend really. The typical finish of the vehicle along with small parts of the vehicle is still lagging to large extend. The image of Tata Product -- "wait for a year or little more, let the problems be taken care of & then based on proper real feed back go for Tata Vehicle" -- now can not tolerated any more with up coming new vehicles at very cheap rate. I hope this basic important attitude is being taken care of which will take the Tata group to the top Globally. Let us show the world that we are now really reared up & no body can beat us.

  • THIS IS GOING 2 B VERY TOUGH FOR TATA BCOZ THIS SEGMENT IS TOTALLY DOMINATED BY MARUTI.

    October 31, 2011by  Dimple
  • Waste of those cheap car, as the cheap car as dolphin, nano launches everybody leaves the bike and buy the car . From these cheap car the pollution will increase triple from the bike pollution . So plz launch the cheap car with zero percent carbondioxide emission or don't even think abt cheap and polluting cars. LEARN FROM REVA CAR

  • TATA= Try And Try Again. I think TATA still doesn't overcome of it's image of making trucks. TATA's cars have poorest fit and finish, awful interiors(feeling of sitting in a truck). At the same time they have good space, low maintenance and good fuel economy. I hope TATA incorporate technology of JAG & Land Rover into its domestic cars.

  • After sales service is almost the same at any service center whether it is maruti, hyundai, tata or chevrolet. I have had bad experiences with Hyundai and Chevrolet, Very Good experiences with tata and neutral feeling at maruti service centers. It's more like our luck riding on a donkey's backside that we get a bad experience at a particular place.

  • Tata's do have superiority complex and because of this they dont care much about customer, be the much hyphed tata indica, vista and recent nano all did not win indian customers and naturally did not took them to No 1 position like Maruthi. Reason being, they lag very much in customer satisfaction in terms of after sales support, warranty support. read the customer reviews from tata customers in indian and international website and u will understand that this is not a exaggerated statement.Ofcourse as a indian company we can appreciate them for their relentless R & D and effort, but if this is not backed by customer satisfaction, it is of no use. Manufacturing Defects are common in all cars (even the imported ones), the issue is how we are preventing this defects in the future. Tata's are very much lagging in learning from their mistakes. Also they think that customers should accept their products as it is (even with defects) as they think that their products are cheaper and superior than competitors product. I am not saying that 100% of all the tata products sold are defective, but atleast 20 % comes under this category. But if they take steps to reduce these 20 % failures, and improve customer relation, they can be the No 1 Car maker in India.. I would strongly recommend Ratan Tata or the top executives of Tata motors to visit any maruthi / hyundai showroom or service centre and see the customer service provided by them. After their visit, they will surely realize how much they are lagging in customer relation and after sales support. I would say that apart from technology, the only competitive edge a Japanese or Korean company has is the after sales support, Even lot of Japanese or Korean products fail during warranty period, but they accept their fault and provide good warranty support. Tata's need to improve on these aspects and should change their approach towards customer. They should think that customer is always right .No customer would like to waste his / her precious money and fight with the dealer to prove that the product is defective, As a Indian I wanted Tata to improve in this sphere and go to No I position in India. Because in India we have the technical brains but we lag the approach towards business. Last but not least if tata's take customers for granted, then they can never win the competition in the long run.
