Tata Aria Overview

New Tata Aria launched by Tata Motors is the first four wheel drive crossover in India, which has a combination of stylish features of SUVs (Sports Utility Vehicle) and a sedan. The seven seater crossover was first exhibited in 2000 at Geneva Motor Show. This car has all the necessary attributes such as comfort, space and stylish design that have given tough competition to both SUVs and MUVs (Multi-utility Vehicles).

Tata Aria 2011 is equipped with 2.2 L, DICOR (Direct Injection Common Rail) diesel engine, which is similar to the engine fitted in Tata Safari. This diesel engine is a very competent engine, which provides good fuel efficiency and comfortable riding experience on different types of roads. The DICOR engine of Aria has the ability to produce maximum power of up to 140 bhp @ 4000 rpm and maximum torque of about 320 Nm @ 1700-2700 rpm.

New Tata Aria in India comes in both 2WD (Two Wheel Drive) and 4WD (Four Wheel Drive) options. These options are available in the different variants of the car, namely Aria Pride, Aria Pure, Aria Prestige and Aria Pleasure. The stylish yet comfort features of this car are gear shift knob, leather seats, leather covered steering wheels, power steering and automatic climate control AC. It also comprises satellite navigation system, broad alloy wheels, keyless entry, drive info system, 2 DIN integrated stereo audio system and rain sensing automatic wipers.

The safety features of New Aria include twin port calliper ventilated disk brakes at both front and rear, EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution) and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System). Cruise control, six airbags, darkness sensing lights, child safety lock, hydro form chassis frame, fog lamps and engine immobiliser with perimetric alarm system are also there in the car.

Tata Aria Launch History

New Tata Aria 2011 was introduced on 2nd August 2011 in 4x2 and 4x4 models with a starting price of 11.61 lacs rupees. The three trim levels include Aria Pure, Aria Prestige and Aria Pleasure, while Aria Pride is the top-of-the-line variant, which can purchased only in 4x4 versions. The launch of this vehicle took place in October 2010 and it was finally made available to the Indian customers from 2nd August 2011.

Tata Motors have introduced Tata Aria Cars in 25 major cities of India with around 69 Tata car dealerships. This new car is a luxury vehicle, which is a perfect combination of Multi-utility Vehicle (MUV) and a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). It comes under the crossover segment of the company and is equipped with advanced interiors and safety features.

Tata Aria Variants (Models)

There are three trim levels versions in Tata Aria including Aria Prestige, Aria Pure and Aria Pleasure. This car also includes a top-of-the-line model, Aria Pride, which is available with ABS, 2 DIN integrated music system and other comfort features. Initially, Tata Motors introduced Tata Aria Pleasure, Tata Aria Prestige and Tata Aria Pride, with the later being the top end variant. Recently, a new variant Tata Aria Pure has also been launched in India in eight different colours. The price range of all these models has been fixed between 11.61 lacs and 15.50 lacs. Aria Pure is the base variant, which is offered at 11.61 lacs rupees, Aria Pleasure is available for 12.61 lacs rupees, while Aria Prestige is offered for 14.21 lacs rupees.

Tata Aria Review

Aria has been launched in 4x4 and 4x2 versions, out of which the later is around one lac rupees cheaper than the former. 4X2 version is only available in the base variant of Tata Aria Pleasure, while the other higher variants are available in 4x4 versions. These cars can be easily booked from any nearest Tata dealership in all major cities of India by paying a down payment of 50,000 rupees.

Tata Aria has a good reputation in the used car market, where it can be purchased at relatively low price with good conditions. Tata Aria Specifications

The seven seater Tata Aria Car is installed with the same 2.2 L DICOR diesel engine, as in Tata Safari. This engine increases the capability and performance of the vehicle, which can also produce peak power of 140 bhp @ 4000 rpm. It also generates maximum torque of 320 Nm at 1700-2700 rpm. Aria’s engine works on an effective base of about 32 bit electronic control unit, which has been designed using modern automobile technology.

The top speed of New Aria is about 162 kmph, which can touch 100 kmph within 14 seconds. DICOR engine of this car has a turbocharger, which is equipped with Variable Turbine Technology (VTT), gives better torque and power. This turbocharger also handles and efficiently controls the air requirements of the engine. Tata Aria gets its speed and acceleration from five-speed manual transmission (Mark II gearbox) and 2.2 L VTT DICOR mill.

The new DICOR mill helps in reducing the emission and in turn increasing the fuel efficiency of the engine. There is a unique power train in Aria, which is supported by 16 valves for excellent fuel consumption.

The exterior appearance of the New Tata Aria Car is very good and aggressive, which usually comes with chrome grille and power windows. It is a complete Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), which has some of the comfort features of multi-utility vehicle.

Exterior Appearance

The brand New Aria is a sophisticated car with classic exterior appearance that comes under the crossover segment of Tata Motors. The front look of this car is very aggressive and is similar to multi-utility vehicles and SUVs. There are big sporty wheels with muscular wheel arches that add to its sporty looks. Other important features of the Tata Aria are upper front grille, front turn indicators, sophisticated headlamps and automatically adjustable ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors).

There is a vertically stacked dual barrel front headlamps in Aria, which comes with darkness sensing system. The fog lamps are round in shape and the bumpers and the wheel arches give perfect uniformity to the car. Tata Aria 2011 is different from other SUVs, as it coloured rub rails and chrome waistline on door windows. New rain sensing wipers are also placed at the front of this car.

Tata Aria is equipped with coloured door handles, rear side mirrors and five-spoke 17 inches alloy wheels with tubeless radial tyres. Other important features of this car are high mounted vertically stacked tail lamps, dual elliptical exhausts and a rear wiper auto wipe.

Exterior Measurements

Tata Aria is a combination of a MUV and a SUV, which comes with the seating capacity for seven passengers. The dimensions of this car include 4780 mm in length, 1895 mm in width and 1780 mm in height. It also has a large wheelbase of 2850 mm along with rear and front track of around 1580 mm and 1550 mm respectively. New Tata Aria 2011 is also known for its good ground clearance of 200 mm that shows its off-road capability.

Interior

There are flexible seats in 3 row theatre styles seating of Tata Aria, which offer abundant space inside the car. Both collapsible 2nd and 3rd row seats can help in accommodating more luggage at the back. Single or dual tone theme leather upholstery, good music control system, reverse guide camera, driver information system and automatic climate control are few of the essential comfort features of New Aria.

Interior Appearance

Tata Aria is one of the most expensive Tata cars in India, has a spacious cabin, tilt adjustable power steering, 4 spokes with mounted phone and audio controls, instrument cluster and chrome finished door handles. Full leather upholstery with interior shades such as black and black, black beige and black and plum add to its stylish looks. New Tat Aria Cars have an advanced multimedia LCD screen, which is attached in the middle of the dashboard.

LCD screen has a GPS navigation system for guiding the destination and a 2 DIN stereo audio system can play CD/MP3. Some of the special comfort features of Tata Aria in India are dual AC with automatic climate control and cruise control, mini glove boxes, bottle holder and dimming roof lamps.

Interior Comfort

Tata Aria Car is one of the safest and comfortable crossovers, which is available with 3 row seating for accommodating 7 passengers. Both 2nd and 3rd row seats can be easily folded and these rows have air conditioning and ‘C’ pillar. Just behind the third row, there is a large storage compartment for storing things. Aria is also known for its abundant legroom and headspace for the passengers. It also includes sun-roof, which is carved in the roof for giving natural light inside the car.

For extra comfort, there are handle bars at both ends that are covered with colourful covers. New Tata Aria India also has a six way adjustable driver seat, sliding middle seat and lumbar support adjustment for comfortable seating.

The New Tata Aria is a five door crossover that is available with a 2.2 L DICOR engine, enough legroom and abundant headroom for all the occupants. Seven passengers can sit inside this vehicle, but the legroom at the third row is not up to the mark as compared to the other rows.

The overall mileage of New Tata Aria Cars is about 11.8 kmpl, while it is 11.2 kmpl in city and 14.7 kmpl on highways.

With a turning radius of 5.6 metre, the first Indian crossover segment, Tata Aria 2011 is surely a luxury car with great on-road drive benefits. It comes with independent double wishbone with oil spring suspension at the front and 5 link suspension with coil spring at the rear. The ventilated disc brakes with twin pot calliper give more comfort while driving the car on road. New Aria Cars have tyre configuration of 235/65 R 17 and 235/70 R 16 that provide tighter grip on roads.

Tata Aria is equipped with the same engine of Tata Safari, which is 2.2 L, 2179 cc, 4-cylinder Direct Injection Common Rail (DICOR) engine that comes with dual mass flywheel. The maximum power generated by this engine is about 140 bhp @ 4000 rpm and the torque produced is of 320 Nm @ 1700-2000 rpm. New Tata Aria in India has refined optimised rubber mounts, better acoustic package and aluminium cast sump. All these features provide better acceleration and overall performance to the diesel engine.

Tata Aria Acceleration and Pick-up

Tata Aria is a high performing SUV, which has plenty of power and acceleration due to the 2.2 L, 2179 cc DICOR diesel engine. This engine comes with dual mass flywheel and can cross the 100 kmph mark within just 14 seconds. The New Aria can reach the top speed mark up to 162 kmph and has higher level power and torque.

Tata Aria Safety and Security

New Aria is a luxury car, which is equipped with technologically advanced features like braking and handling systems. The twin port calliper ventilated type front brakes and disc type rear brakes are special safety features of this car. It has a highly advanced braking system, which is integrated with Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) system and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System).

Tata Aria Cars also have independent wishbone suspension at front and rear that come with 5 link anti-roll bar. A variety of safety features of this car have undergone European crash tests and include six airbags, standard controls, cruise control and Traction Control System (TCS). In addition to this, there are seat belts for all the occupants, fog lamps and reverse guide system in New Tata Aria Cars.

The 4x4 variant of this car also consists of 4x4 Adapterra torque-on-demand systems that can easily sense the terrain conditions and supply torque in different proportions for assisting off-road and normal driving. This particular feature is not available in 4x2 models of Tata Aria Cars.

Tata Aria Comfort and Convenience

Tata Aria consists of a height adjustable driver seat and tilt adjustable steering for better driving position. This luxury car has a reverse guide system, which works with the help of an in-built reverse guide camera. Reverse guide system is useful in parking the vehicle by giving the view of rear vehicles. GPS navigation system, 2 DIN integrated music system with 6 speakers, USB port, and 12 V power outlets are also present in this car.

New Tata Aria has been launched with a ground clearance of 200 mm and is fixed with 17 inches five-spoke alloy wheels. The wheelbase of this car is about 2850 mm, which comes with 16 inches steel wheels. It is also attached with tyre specification of 235/65 R17 that gives excellent grip on Indian roads.

Tata Aria Stereo and Accessories

The all New Tata Aria 2011 has a dual AC along with a 2 DIN stereo audio system, which can play CD/MP3. This music system is attached with 6 speakers and comes with Tata blue connect, which can be paired with 5 phones for hands free operation.
