Overall Evaluation of Skoda SK125

The Czech Republic based car maker Skoda, which is a subsidiary of largest European car maker Volkswagen, is all set to mark its debut in the entry level sedan segment in the Indian market by launching new Skoda SK125 in the country by the end of 2011. The car is expected to come powered by the petrol and diesel 1.6L engines that are currently doing duties in Volkswagen Vento. Also, the new Skoda SK125 may come equipped with a new 1.4L engine, which Volkswagen is planning to launch with a new variant of Vento in the country.

The Skoda SK125 will be placed above company’s current lowest priced model, Fabia, and thus the new Skoda SK125 will not only strengthen company’s position in the Indian market but will also help the car maker to increase its market share.

According to a recent statement given by Mr. Thomas Kuehl, Board Member, Sales & Marketing, Skoda India, the coming years, Skoda will be back on the front row with strategic planning in order to gain market share in India.

The all new Skoda SK125 is expected to be shelved in the price bracket of Rs 8 to 10 lakh, where it will be competing with the likes of Toyota Etios, Ford Fiesta, Honda City, Fiat Linea, Maruti SX4, etc.

Engine & Specifications of the Skoda SK125

The all new Skoda SK125 is expected to be sporting the same 1.6L engine that has been loaded in its parent Volkswagen’s Vento sedan. The car is expected to be launched in both diesel and petrol versions, sporting the same capacity 1.6L engine.

The powerful engine of the petrol Vento sedan offers a peak power of 105 bhp at 5250 rpm along with a peak torque of 153 Nm at 3800 rpm.  On the other hand, the diesel version offers the same power with a higher torque of 250 Nm at 1500-2500 rpm. The car is also expected to be rolled-out in a 1.4L version within a few months of 1.6L version.

Performance of the Skoda SK125

The Skoda SK125 model will come powered by the same 1.6L engine of Vento that has already proved its performance through delivering superior acceleration and pick-up characteristics. The mileage of the car will fall in the range of 11 to 15 kmpl. However, the company is yet to disclose the exact specification details of the car in the country.

Interior, Exterior and Safety Features

The all new Skoda SK125 is still in the development stage and the company hasn’t revealed any information regarding the designing and styling of the car. However, it is expected the SK125 will come loaded with a world class exterior and a sublime quality interior.

The Skoda SK125 is expected to come powered by a range of new age safety features including ABS (antilock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake-force distribution), multiple airbags and many more.
