The Skoda Fabia was launched in the Indian market in year 2008 as the first ever premium hatchback of Skoda Auto in the country. The Fabia hatchback has been one of the highest selling Skoda models in a number of world countries. It is basically a five-door hatchback that is available in both petrol and diesel variants in India. The company had rolled-out new versions of Skoda Fabia in the Indian market in the month of Oct 2010.The new Fabia comes powered by 1.2(75bhp) petrol, 1.2L diesel (75bhp) and 1.6L petrol (105bhp) engines.

Besides the new engines, the company has made a series of changes at both interior and exterior front that comprises of newly styled tail lamp, wider tyres, bigger fog lamp, CD/MP3 player, dual-front SRS airbags, ABS (antilock braking system) along with dual rate brake assist, engine braking control (EBC), Motor speed regulation (MSR) and 14 inch alloy wheels (available in top end variant). Engine & Specifications of the Skoda Fabia

The Skoda Fabia hatchback is available in two petrol versions and a diesel version. The lower powered petrol variant comes powered by a 1.2L MPI, 1198cc, DOHC, In-line 3-cylinder engine that is capable of generating a peak power of 75 bhp at 5400 rpm along with a peak torque of 110 Nm at 3750 rpm. The high powered petrol version carries a 1.6L MPI, 4-cylinder, DOHC, engine that can generate a peak power of 105 bhp at 2550 rpm with a peak torque of 153 Nm at 3800 rpm. On the other hand, the diesel version of Fabia comes equipped with a 1.2L TDI CR, 3-cylinder DOHC, turbocharged engine that generated a maximum power of 75 bhp at 4200 rpm with a peak torque of 180 Nm at 2000 rpm. All variants of Fabia come mated with a five-speed manual gear-box.

Performance of the Skoda Fabia

The Skoda Fabia is a powerful performer on road, thanks to its superior pick-up and acceleration characteristics. The addition of new generation performance enhancing features such as Motor speed regulation (MSR) and Engine Braking Control (EBC), further enhances the performance level of this hatchback. The fuel economy of Fabia petrol falls in the range of 13.5 to 17.5 kmpl, the diesel version of Fabia offers the mileage in the range of 15.5 to 19.5 kmpl.
