Nissan Motor Company Limited is a Japanese Multinational Automaker, which was formerly a member of the Nissan Group. It is functional in India in collaboration with Renault, with the venture being named as Renault-Nissan. After the introduction and subsequent success of Tata Nano, Nissan engaged in talks with Bajaj to come up with a low cost car that would compete with the world's cheapest car. In this regard, Nissan and Renault will own 25 per cent stakes each in the venture, whereas Bajaj would own the remaining 50 per cent of the share.

According to its current plans, the car would be manufactured by Bajaj and the marketing would be done by Renault and Nissan. This low cost car is codenamed as Nissan ULC and will be built at an all new manufacturing facility in Chakan, near Pune. The three companies aimed to price this vehicle in the sub-Rs. 2 Lac category, though it may not be possible due to the rising prices of steel Nissan's ultra low cost car is likely to give a strong competition to Tata Nano and the upcoming Hyundai Eon.

Engines & Specifications of Nissan Ultra Low-cost Car

The Nissan Ultra low cheap car, nicknamed as Nissan ULC, would be built and engineered by Bajaj, though inputs would be provided by Nissan and Renault. The car is expected to be powered by a 2 cylinder petrol engine which will be placed in the front of the vehicle. It is expected to produce maximum displacement of 634 cc and generate of the vehicle is likely to be 36 hp. Nissan is likely to facilitate its ULC car with manual transmission, along with optional automatic transmission. This low price compact car would be sporting a front engine.

Performance of Nissan Ultra Low-cost Car

The upcoming Nissan ULC car is specially meant for the drive on city roads and not on the highways. The car is expected to deliver fuel economy of 35 kmpl on city roads. This vehicle would be more efficient than its biggest competitor, the Tata Nano, as it would be exceeding the Nano in terms of mileage. The car maker will try to build the car such that it will be able to reach top speed of 80 kmph effortlessly.

Nissan has given moderate looks to its ultra low cheap car, reminiscent of Tata Nano with a front engine. The vehicle is expected to be available with prominent features, such as body colour bumpers, door handles and front and rear lamps, among others. Regarding the safety of the car, Nissan would provide optimum features like airbags, central locking and tubeless tyres.

From the inside, the vehicle is expected to be designed in such a way that it will render optimum comfort to passengers. Features like electronic trip meter, fabric seats, digital fuel gauge and front room lamp are on the cards. The car maker would be facilitating the upcoming ULC with boot space of 123 litres, which can be its USP, as Tata Nano loses face in this department.
