Nissan Motor India Private Limited, Indian subsidiary of Japanese automaker is coming up with Nissan Serena minivan. Nissan Serena was initially introduced in the year 1991, as small people carrier. The latest edition is the fourth generation of multi-purpose vehicle that has significantly grown in size over the generations.
The current generation of Nissan Serena was unveiled in 2010, which now caters to wider base of target audience, mainly large families. With its release in Indian, Nissan Motor India Private Limited is aiming to tap the high-potential MPV segment that has limited players, Toyota Innova and Maruti Suzuki Eeco being most notable. The target segment for Nissan Serena has become more lucrative with diminishing demand of Toyota Innova and unfriendly response of target audience to Maruti Suzuki Eeco.
Engines & Specifications of Nissan Serena
The new generation Nissan Serena is assimilated with an advanced QR20DE 2.0-litre engine of 1998cc displacement, supported by continuously variable valve timing control (CVTC). The combination optimises performance, boasts fuel efficiency and minimises CO2 emissions. Powerful QR20DE 2.0-itre engine of Serena is complemented with direct ignition system. The combination has capability to churn out power of 146 hp at 6000 rpm and maximum torque of 198 Nm at 4000 rpm.
It has an advanced suspension mechanism featuring front strut-type suspension and rear multi-link suspension, for providing handling and stability. On the other hand, idling stop system restarts the engine and serves as an alternator during deceleration.
Performance of Nissan Serena
New age Nissan Serena is integrated with fly-by-wire throttle and electronic throttle technologies that ensures smooth drive. Moreover, 4-speed electronic automatic transmission with E-Flow torque improves gear-shift mechanism. This advanced direct-injection engine with Xtronic CVT has improved fuel efficiency by 25%.
Exterior, Interior & Safety Features of Nissan Serena
Exteriors of the new generation Serena are smooth and flowing, unlike orthodox design of minivans. Stair-like waistline and large triangular windows are among chief exterior highlights. Furthermore, body-coloured front grille adds sporty character to the MPV. Dual sliding doors allow easy and speedy entry/exit of occupants.
Modern and spacious interiors of Serena will be the unique selling proportion of this MPV. Designer finishing within 42 square feet interior space, supple leather seats for comfort, lift-up function, walk-through layout and foldable front centre table are other noteworthy interior features.
Nissan Serena has powerful complex surface reflector (CSR), halogen headlights, fog lamps, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), brake assist system (BA) as active safety arrangements. Moreover, it has dual safety SRS airbags and seatbelts as passive safety arrangements.
